[09:45:22]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> when I list backup, I have
> > bash: line 1: command not found
uh
[09:45:27]
<Salamandar> let me see…
[09:45:37]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> I don't understand how borgserver is supposed to get borg from `$install_dir/venv/bin/borg`
what do you mean ?
[09:47:13]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> when I list backup, I have
> > bash: line 1: command not found
you don't have bash on your server ? only sh ?
[09:47:22]
<Salamandar> "when i list backup" what does it mean ?
[09:54:06]
<kayou> nah, it's just that borgserver only allow borg cmd in ssh authorize_key file
[09:54:37]
<kayou> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> you don't have bash on your server ? only sh ?
uuh I think it's just a bad copy pasta
[09:54:50]
<kayou> "borg command not found"
[10:00:05]
<kayou> how borgserver is supposed to find the borg binary?
[10:00:56]
<kayou> (you can check by yourself by listing backup of samurai on my server, just `sudo su` and check history of borg cmd on samurai)
[10:28:48]
<selfhoster1312> Aleks (he/him/il/lui), could you release a new metronome_ynh version so i can test on my server please? :)
[10:53:32]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> "borg command not found"
that weird then
[10:54:07]
<Salamandar> it's in $install_dir/venv/bin/borg indeed.
[10:56:59]
<Salamandar> aaaaaaaah yes okay I see what you mean. The .ssh/authorized_keys should contain the whole path to borg !
[10:57:18]
<Salamandar> how did i not pick up this issue
[10:57:43]
<Salamandar> maybe I tested on a server that also has borg from deb
[11:02:19]
<rodinux> I don't understand... From my borgserver I can access just doing a `borg list /home/userborg/backup` entering a passphrase do the trick.
`
[11:02:40]
<Salamandar> borg now lives in $install_dir
[11:02:50]
<Salamandar> but indeed the ssh config file is wrong
[11:03:21]
<Salamandar> until now it was installed in /usr/local/bin/borg
[11:04:52]
<rodinux> You mean the borg backup app, but on the server ?
[11:06:58]
<rodinux> Ah ok, if I upgrade from 1.2.8~ynh1 to 1.2.8~ynh3
[11:07:17]
<Salamandar> ynh3 is broken
[11:07:23]
<Salamandar> you need ynh4 that I pushed seconds ago
[11:08:08]
<rodinux> Ok, thanks, I am lucky to see this discussion...
[11:12:52]
<Salamandar> :D
[11:23:46]
<kayou> I don't remember why, and I can't test right now
[11:23:52]
<Salamandar> yeah i just pushed the fix
[11:24:07]
<Salamandar> the authorized_keys file indeed contains `borg` without the absolute path to the executable
[11:24:08]
<kayou> i tried something like that morning, but it didn't work :/
[11:24:14]
<kayou> i tried something like that this morning, but it didn't work :/
[11:24:26]
<kayou> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> the authorized_keys file indeed contains `borg` without the absolute path to the executable
yeah, I tried that^^
[11:24:35]
<kayou> adding the absolute path
[11:24:37]
<kayou> i mean
[11:24:43]
<Salamandar> it did not help ?
[11:24:46]
<kayou> nah
[11:24:51]
<Salamandar> huh weird
[11:24:55]
<Salamandar> it shouldve
[11:25:42]
<kayou> do you have access to samurai? (I don't but I can add the path in my .ssh/authorized_keys so you can test it)
[11:26:03]
<Salamandar> i do
[11:26:54]
<kayou> sudo -u ynh-samurai /var/www/borgserver/venv/bin/borg
[11:26:59]
<kayou> > sudo: unable to execute /var/www/borgserver/venv/bin/borg: Permission denied
[11:27:15]
<kayou> that the issue I think
[11:27:23]
<Salamandar> oooooh
[11:27:45]
<Salamandar> yeah the whole venv should be public
[11:28:47]
<kayou> (i changed my authorized_keys file, you can test by yourself from samurai if you want)
[11:28:59]
<Salamandar> can you run pleas `chmod a+rX -R "/var/www/borgserver/venv"`
[11:29:53]
<kayou> wait a minute
[11:29:58]
<kayou> > root@kayou:/home/kayou# ls -la /var/www/borgserver/venv/
total 24
drwxr-xr-x 5 borgserver borgserver 4096 Aug 17 12:18 .
drwxr-x--- 4 borgserver borgserver 4096 Aug 17 12:19 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 borgserver borgserver 4096 Aug 17 12:19 bin
drwxr-xr-x 3 borgserver borgserver 4096 Aug 17 12:18 include
drwxr-xr-x 3 borgserver borgserver 4096 Aug 17 12:18 lib
lrwxrwxrwx 1 borgserver borgserver 3 Aug 17 12:18 lib64 -> lib
-rw-r--r-- 1 borgserver borgserver 173 Aug 17 12:18 pyvenv.cfg
[11:30:25]
<Salamandar> ah the $install_dir is not world-listable
[11:30:25]
<kayou> why borgserver instead of ynh-samurai? (since it's the user for this app)
[11:31:02]
<Salamandar> so you need :
```
chmod a+rX "/var/www/borgserver"
chmod a+rX -R "/var/www/borgserver/venv"
```
[11:31:07]
<kayou> `chown borgserver:ynh-samurai -R /var/www/borgserver` maybe?
[11:31:21]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> why borgserver instead of ynh-samurai? (since it's the user for this app)
well someday™ one borgserver might serve multiple users
[11:32:19]
<kayou> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> so you need :
> ```
> chmod a+rX "/var/www/borgserver"
> chmod a+rX -R "/var/www/borgserver/venv"
> ```
i can run this, but, for security reason, we could also use acl to allow my user
[11:32:47]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> i can run this, but, for security reason, we could also use acl to allow my user
IMHO $install_dir will never contain sensitive data
[11:32:59]
<Salamandar> or, if it does, it will be in a subdirectory (not in venv)
[11:33:01]
<kayou> well I don't know what hacker could do with borg anyway
[11:33:19]
<Salamandar> as long as it's read only anyways…
[11:33:55]
<kayou> try to list backup now?
[11:34:42]
<Salamandar> yeah o/
[11:34:59]
<Salamandar> (1312 <3)
[11:35:14]
<kayou> :x
[11:35:34]
<selfhoster1312> Salamandar, <3
[11:35:49]
<Salamandar> <3
[11:36:22]
<kayou> <3
[11:36:45]
<kayou> > chmod a+rX -R "/var/www/borgserver/venv"
we don't really want that
[11:37:12]
<kayou> we want
> chmod a+rX "/var/www/borgserver/venv"
chmod a+rX -R "/var/www/borgserver/venv/bin"
[11:37:14]
<kayou> or something like that
[11:37:40]
<kayou> arf, without -R on venv, maybe we don't have access to the include dir, which contain python libs
[11:37:57]
<kayou> anyway, thanks for the help
[11:39:25]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> arf, without -R on venv, maybe we don't have access to the include dir, which contain python libs
hmmmm idk, i think it's risky to not make the whole venv readable, idk what python might be accessing under the hood
[11:40:19]
<Salamandar> if you're still on your server
[11:40:27]
<Salamandar> could you please test v1.4.0 ?
[11:40:30]
<Salamandar> https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/borgserver_ynh/pull/69
[11:40:32]
<kayou> it's just weird to have x permission on a libpython3.so
[11:40:39]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> it's just weird to have x permission on a libpython3.so
no it's X not x
[11:40:50]
<Salamandar> x = everything executable
[11:41:20]
<Salamandar> X = dirs executable (listable), files nothing (not executable if =, untouched if +)
[11:42:01]
<kayou> TIL^^
[11:42:11]
<Salamandar> yeah chmod magic fuckery
[11:42:44]
<kayou> (but i still have perm on my libpython)
[11:42:55]
<kayou> i'll check perms of my other borgserver instance (the server one)
[11:43:36]
<Salamandar> hmmmm
[11:43:41]
<Salamandar> where is your libpython ?
[11:43:52]
<Salamandar> ```
root@ppcm:/var/www/borg/venv# find . -name *.so
./lib/python3.9/site-packages/borg/compress.cpython-39-x86_64-linux-gnu.so

```
[11:43:52]
<kayou> well I have x perm on all files
[11:44:03]
<kayou> omg
[11:44:28]
<kayou> --'
[11:44:28]
<kayou> python is a folder, not a lib
[11:44:47]
<Salamandar> :D
[11:44:47]
<Salamandar> get some sleep
[11:44:47]
<Salamandar> haha
[11:44:48]
<Salamandar> <3
[11:44:51]
<kayou> i should
[11:45:31]
<kayou> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> could you please test v1.4.0 ?
can you add the chmod cmd before my upgrade?
[11:47:22]
<Salamandar> > <@kayou:matrix.org> can you add the chmod cmd before my upgrade?
that's done
[11:49:06]
<kayou> ha yes, i didn't saw your merge
[11:49:08]
<kayou> let's upgrade
[11:50:38]
<kayou> upgrade done, you can test it :)
[11:55:50]
<Salamandar> nice
[11:55:51]
<Salamandar> i can borg list
[11:56:03]
<Salamandar> on samurai, what's the command to start backups ?
[11:56:35]
<kayou> cat /etc/cron.d/backup
[11:56:36]
<Salamandar> or is it done on saper ?
[11:56:37]
<Salamandar> ok
[11:56:57]
<Salamandar> there's no /etc/cron.d/backup
[11:57:12]
<kayou> hmm let me check the doc
[11:57:13]
<Salamandar> ah daily
[11:57:26]
<Salamandar> samurai is no yunohost
[11:58:00]
<kayou> yep
[11:58:01]
<kayou> it's ubuntu
[11:58:17]
<kayou> for some reason
[11:58:36]
<kayou> docs about backups: https://doc.yunohost.org/backup
[11:58:36]
<kayou> (private)
[12:07:56]
<kayou> doesn't the backup work?
[12:10:44]
<Salamandar> running
[12:10:52]
<Salamandar> against the reflexlibre server
[12:15:11]
<kayou> haha
[13:13:08]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> > <selfhoster1312> Aleks (he/him/il/lui), could you release a new metronome_ynh version so i can test on my server please? :)
[13:52:51]
<Salamandar> @kayou:matrix.org did the backups work ?
[13:56:32]
<kayou> i can't check from my server
[13:57:24]
<kayou> i mean, if I run monitor-backup.sh, i don't receive an email anymore, which mean "you should have a backup"^^
[15:00:26]
<kayou> https://ci-apps-bookworm-dev.yunohost.org/ci/job/2206
<selfhoster1312> Aleks (he/him/il/lui), hmm i don't see the update yet? and i don't see a job on here? https://ci-apps-bookworm-dev.yunohost.org/ci/
sorry i'm always confused by how the apps system works ^^
[16:38:07]
<selfhoster1312> ah ok maybe we need to wait for the catalog to rebuild (as you said in another chan) :)
[16:41:58]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> the -dev ci jobs are the ones triggered manualyl using !testme in a PR comment
[16:42:19]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> and the "non-dev" CI are based on the catalog
[16:42:26]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> but metronome ain't in the catalog yet actually
[16:42:40]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> cf some discussions yesterday(?), it should be added to the catalog
[16:43:05]
<selfhoster1312> ok
[16:44:13]
<selfhoster1312> so the update should drop "some time soon"? :)
[16:44:51]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> dunno what you mean, it's not in the catalog so there's no app update advertised in the webadmin > Upgrade section if that's what you mean
[16:45:11]
<Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> if you want to upgrade right now, you should use `yunohost app upgrade metronome -u <url_to_the_github_repo/branch>`
[16:45:32]
<selfhoster1312> oh did i have to install it like that? yes i did
[16:45:34]
<selfhoster1312> sorry i forgot ^^
