[17:04:09] <DJ Chase (fae/faer)> so the standard notes server package is unmaintained, and that is something i would really like to host
[17:04:46] <DJ Chase (fae/faer)> how involved is maintaining a package, and what is the process of becoming the new maintainer?
[17:08:42] <m606> Hello, to get more familiar with app packaging environment:
- docs about app packaging: https://doc.yunohost.org/en/dev/packaging/
- full-fledged example with all options commented: https://github.com/YunoHost/example_ynh/

As for becoming a new maintainer basically it starts either with packaging an app which you are likely to want to maintain, or if in your case the package already exists, providing PRs from a fork of yours to the testing branch of Yunohost-Apps org repo.
You may also want to commit maintaining the app over a longer term, and permission to write directly to the repo is likely to be granted to you (here is a good place to ask) by the superadmins (here is a good place to ask for this).
[17:09:41] <DJ Chase (fae/faer)> thanks!
