[17:09:03] <mathieuw> Should we try to add a topic in the FAQ about Docker ?
https://mastodon.social/@geoff_eg/114456174541716273
I found several threads about this question in the forum (i.e. https://forum.yunohost.org/t/advantages-of-classic-install-over-docker/4377) but couldn't find any in the FAQ. Am I missing something?
[17:18:57] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> i suppose it would be nice yeah
[17:19:17] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> the first link's question is a bit different tho

>what is the advantage of the using yunohost over just using docker/portainer on a ubuntu server ISO?
[17:21:38] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> like not realizing everything else that YunoHost does beside "just" installing apps, such as actually exposing the app to the outside world (nginx frontend), certificate handling, user management / LDAP integration, SSO, email, diagnosis, backup, fail2ban, having a catalog with apps being described etc because docker is nice but how do you know what image to fetch in the first place, having a webadmin so that you don't do everything in CLI, etc
[17:22:36] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> i mean pretty much asking "what are the advantage of using Linux Mint over Linux-from-scratch ?" 💤
[17:36:06] <mathieuw> Thanks! I will try to answer his question with this input.
[18:37:01] <mathieuw> > <@mathieuw:tetaneutral.net> Thanks! I will try to answer his question with this input.

Okaye, that worked, thanks Aleks!
> Awesome! Appreciate the detailed response. Some of those key points about dealing with the frontend and certificates sounds very helpful.
> Appreciate the write up. I'll have to look into this project more and fire up a VM to test it on.
[18:58:15] <rodinux> Is it ok for you if I suggest add Numericoop as Yunohost providers in the doc ?
