[08:04:16] <Folât> problem solved, I was an idiot that forgot how to use an application
[08:06:25] <fritjof[m]> Hi - after trying to configure my firewall for the VPS besides the YNH firewall, I've run in to some problems.
1) mastodon stopped working - will not reboot, gives errorcode:
Sep 11 07:59:39 systemd[1]: Started mastodon-web.
Sep 11 07:59:39 bundle[1338]: /usr/bin/env: ‘ruby’: No such file or directory
Sep 11 07:59:39 systemd[1]: mastodon-web.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=127/n/a
Sep 11 07:59:39 systemd[1]: mastodon-web.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
Sep 11 07:59:39 systemd[1]: mastodon-web.service: Scheduled restart job, restart counter is at 5.
Sep 11 07:59:39 systemd[1]: Stopped mastodon-web.

[08:06:53] <fritjof[m]> 2) I can only log in to Synapse/Matrix via CAS. Password seems to be detached somehow.
[08:06:57] <Folât> install ruby
[08:07:19] <fritjof[m]> ok.
[08:12:46] <fritjof[m]> hmm... now I get: Sep 11 08:08:11 bundle[3924]: bundler: command not found: puma
Sep 11 08:08:11 bundle[3924]: Install missing gem executables with `bundle install`
[08:13:16] <fritjof[m]> but it won't accept "ruby bundle install" - what am I doing wrong?
[08:13:45] <Folât> I'll install ruby myself and try what you're doing.
[08:14:01] <fritjof[m]> Many thanks!
[08:14:57] <Folât> but the first thing that pops into my head is `bundle install` without the ruby
[08:15:19] <Folât> I'm not familiar with ruby though
[08:21:55] <Folât> Try `sudo apt install ruby-bundler` and then try rebooting mastodon again to see if it's got all the required packages.
[08:22:01] <fritjof[m]> Ah cheers!
Will try now:)
[08:25:40] <fritjof[m]> Ok - something worked... Now I get all sorts of new interesting error messages:

[08:26:18] <Folât> Oh, great another dependency error
[08:27:16] <fritjof[m]> I find it strange that they all went missing after the failed firewall-attempt... But if that's how it is.
```
[folaht@Vxnebehrzjepa admin]$ groups folaht
folaht : folaht all_users mail.main xmpp.main nextcloud.api nextcloud.main
```
[11:08:27] <Sidney> `synapse.main:*:63442:<userid1>,<userid2>`
[11:10:12] <Folât> `gpasswd -d <userid1> synapse.main` `gpasswd -d <userid2> synapse.main`
[11:17:00] <Sidney> > `gpasswd -d <userid1> synapse.main` `gpasswd -d <userid2> synapse.main`

[12:47:17] <tripop> Hum, can i know why i got error when i try to activate user systemd service ? I got "Failed to connect to bus"
[12:47:23] <tripop> Anyone have this ?
[12:50:06] <Folât> I've had it before
[12:51:22] <Folât> You added `sudo`?
[12:52:38] <Folât> You don't use elevated privileges for user services.
[13:03:09] <tripop> Hum, got this when i put sudo `Failed to connect to bus: $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS and $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not defined (consider using --machine=<user>@.host --user to connect to bus of other user)`
[13:11:31] <fritjof[m]> My YNH says that sidekiq is missing now. Refusing to run mastodon because of it. What is the installation command?
[13:12:33] <Folât> `bundle add sidekiq`
[13:13:04] <fritjof[m]> then it says "could not add gemfile"
[13:13:17] <Folât> hmmm...

[13:16:32] <fritjof[m]> sorry - this is the message I'm getting now.....
[13:16:44] <fritjof[m]> something seems off with ruby-gems, doesn't it?
[13:16:51] <Folât> Did you install ruby-rake before?
[13:17:23] <fritjof[m]> I thought I did, but something might have gone wrong.
[13:17:47] <fritjof[m]> I did: * sudo apt install rake

[13:17:59] <Folât> Oh right.
[13:18:08] <fritjof[m]> I have: * sudo apt install rake

[13:18:10] <fritjof[m]> sorry.
[13:18:28] <fritjof[m]> rake is already the newest version (13.0.3-1).

[13:19:09] <fritjof[m]> but that seems like a different version from the one Mastodon web asks for
[13:19:13] <tripop> It seem user@1007.service don't work on yunohost. And it seem to never work in my previous installation. doesn't seem to cause any harm, but maybe it's this then ?
[13:22:51] <Folât> fritjof[m]: What's your yunohost version?
[13:23:16] <fritjof[m]> > <@folaht[m]:libera.chat> fritjof[m]: What's your yunohost version?

11.0.9.14 (stable)
[13:25:26] <fritjof[m]> It's so weird that this began after I tried making an extra firewall from my VPS. After I dismantled that one, it just kept on not working.
I've also tried picking in my PHP script to make the upload limit bigger, with no luck. Can I have broken something here by changing some values there?
[13:25:51] <fritjof[m]> Maybe I should sleep on it and see if things are working tomorrow
[13:25:58] <Folât> I have no idea.
[13:26:19] <fritjof[m]> :/ Me neither....
Thanks for the effort anyway !
[13:27:09] <Folât> I hope you can fix it tomorrow.
[13:28:18] <Folât> What even is the 1007 service?
[13:29:37] <Folât> tripop: What command did you try to get the dbus error?
[15:32:24] <parleur> Hum, little problem with Peertube/Yunohost on a fresh install :

[15:42:21] <Alekswag[m]> just why
[15:42:21] <Alekswag[m]> why are people sharing only X lines of logs
[15:42:40] <Alekswag[m]> don't they see the gazillions messages and mechanism where we state "share the full goddamn log"
[15:42:43] <Folât> parleur: Check who owns .yarnrc and who should own it.
[15:42:51] <Alekswag[m]> shall we make it blink with rainbox colors or something ...
[15:43:46] <parleur> 4 lines didn’t seem too much. Sorry for bothering.
[15:43:47] <Alekswag[m]> make people sign a pact before installing Yunohost, "I solemnly swear that in the eventuality that i reach the yunohost support i shall share exclusivly the goddamn full log"
[15:44:50] <Folât> Alekswag[m]: Because it clutters chat or the forum.
[15:45:11] <Alekswag[m]> which is why people invented pastebins such as paste.yunohost.org and you should just share the link autogenerated by yunohost ?
[15:45:13] <jason[m]> > <@Alekswag:matrix.org> why are people sharing only X lines of logs

My guess is because they themselves have not read the entire log, and feel uncertain about sharing the full log out of fear it may contain something identifiable.
[15:45:47] <Folât> Alekswag[m]: Not everyone knows about that I guess.
[15:45:54] <Alekswag[m]> the message displayed on the webadmin also explains that yunohost (attempts to) anonymize stuff
[15:46:36] <Alekswag[m]> folaht[m]: it's not about "knowing" it ... This is literally just what happens when you click the "Share the log on Yunopaste" green button
[15:47:00] <Alekswag[m]> but yeah maybe people are like "oh yeah I'm gonna copypasta only a bunch of lines instead of sharing the damn link"
[15:47:18] <Alekswag[m]> even though it's stated in X places that people should share the *full* log ...
[15:47:51] <Alekswag[m]> anyway, user support is like sisyphe damnation i suppose
[15:49:44] <Folât> Alekswag[m]: I suggest advocating for it on the forum.
[15:50:54] <Alekswag[m]> advocating how ? We already do
[15:51:11] <Folât> Hmmm... it needs to clearer then.
[15:51:28] <Alekswag[m]> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
[15:53:33] <Folât> Well, I'm going to tell you why I did it last time. I did see the green button, but I looked at the cloud icon and thought: "That's that place where your data gets stolen by large companies, better not click it."
[15:54:16] <Folât> I also don't read the support message anymore and just empty it, except for the layout stuff.
[15:57:48] <Folât> You can also copy them into Yunohost' pastebin or directly include error messages using backticks like this :

https://paste.yunohost.org/example_log

```text
Here are some error messages
```
[15:58:13] <Folât> Something like that.
[15:59:57] <Folât> Plus a pic of one of those green buttons.
[16:00:52] <Folât> Or maybe you can wait until everyone figures it out. It's simply habitual from an earlier time.
[16:27:38] <parleur> You’re overthinking it. Or I just wanted to be synthetic, and not bother making anyone going through the whole logs.
[16:29:06] <parleur> Sorry, I won’t do it again, no need to epilogue this further.
[16:44:51] <tituspijean> parleur: Can you confirm that is a new Peertube install?
[16:49:12] <parleur> Yes.
https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/miduzoxawi
[16:49:59] <parleur> I tried with the testing version, but got the same problem
[16:50:27] <tituspijean> It looks like you require to set a homedir for Yarn. I'm working on it.
[16:51:14] <parleur> <3
[17:00:50] <tituspijean> parleur: Can you try this? `sudo yunohost app install https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/peertube_ynh/tree/fix-yarn-home -f`
[17:01:45] <parleur> Launched.
[17:05:08] <parleur> Didn’t work.
https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/enasagezid
[17:08:09] <tituspijean> Try again?
[17:09:12] <parleur> Launched.
[17:10:27] <Alekswag[m]> i'm puzzled why there would be a .yarnrc in /var/www itself ...
[17:10:36] <Alekswag[m]> can you share the output of `ls -l /var/www/.yarnrc` ?
[17:11:10] <tituspijean> I'm guessing the commands still uses `www-data` as user, and `/var/www` is its homedir...?
[17:11:25] <tituspijean> but the ynh_exec_as command should prevent that...
[17:12:37] <parleur> `No such file or directory
[17:12:51] <parleur> (I tried it before, but tried again anyway)
[17:13:16] <tituspijean> Please share the log
[17:13:27] <parleur> https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/qezoqexoza
[17:14:17] <tituspijean> ```

[17:30:53] <tituspijean> That's amazing. I don't have the issue on my servers, and there's no yarnrc file in /var/www
[17:32:59] <parleur> Looks like I’m not the only one with this problem.
https://forum.yunohost.org/t/what-is-the-correct-linux-owner-and-linux-group-for-var-www/12041/1
[17:33:55] <parleur> The server install is from today, and the two first things I did on it was to install Yunohost, then try to install Peertube.
[17:34:20] <tituspijean> What's the output of `ls -la /var/www`
[17:36:20] <parleur> Now, that I have installed some more stuff, it’s :

[17:38:02] <tituspijean> Looks fine to me :/
[17:39:39] <parleur> I think too.
[17:53:24] <Hans Kristiansen> Just installed Younohost and Synapse. But I seem to have two problems.
1. Port 5349 seems to be blocked, even though I have opened it. Not sure I it's an important port to have open.
[17:53:32] <Hans Kristiansen> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/RMidbZriefZsroZPTHvplNjU
[17:53:46] <Hans Kristiansen> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/OugzIySNcGMJxeWhKYtJKUKF
[17:54:06] <Folât> https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/peertube\_ynh/issues/237 \<- this issue probably needs reopening
[17:55:42] <Folât> Oh wait, I didn't notice that tituspijean filed the issue.
[17:56:00] <Hans Kristiansen> 2. I cant log inn even though the password and username is correct. Not sure if it's related to the port problem
[17:56:03] <Hans Kristiansen> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/KhkVrRjAmcFrhvSfNUgDUFio
[17:56:42] <Folât> Hans Kristiansen: Can't login to what?
[17:56:49] <Hans Kristiansen> Matrix on element
[17:57:07] <Folât> Ahhh...
[17:57:16] <fritjof[m]> I've the same problem!
[17:58:15] <Folât> Hans Kristiansen: Any errors in any logs?
[17:58:32] <fritjof[m]> > <@hansjk[m]:libera.chat> Matrix on element

I have the same problem. Comforting to know one is not alone :)
[17:59:37] <parleur> > Oh wait, I didn't notice that tituspijean filed the issue.
And it was more than one year ago. :p
[18:01:02] <Hans Kristiansen> > <@folaht:matrix.org> Hans Kristiansen: Any errors in any logs?

I think Coturn is related to port 5349, and it fails when starting: https://paste.yunohost.org/qejuyewozi
[18:01:16] <fritjof[m]> regarding my mastodon server failure - and sorry for not having shared everything before:
here's the logfile for mastodón sidekiq: https://paste.yunohost.org/ejiwisunar
and here's the log for mastodon web: https://paste.yunohost.org/mahavexapa
Both are not running. How do I upgrade to rake 13.0.6 ? My ssh says i have "the latest" rake but names it as: rake is already the newest version (13.0.3-1).
[18:02:11] <Folât> Hans Kristiansen: It is. I happen to be trying to install coturn.
[18:03:24] <Hans Kristiansen> Don't understand how it can be blocked when I have opened it.
[18:03:41] <Folât> Coturn doesn't start, that's why.
[18:03:55] <Folât> There's something preventing coturn to run.
[18:04:10] <Hans Kristiansen> And I don't know if it have any thing to do with me not being able to log inn to my matrix accounts.
[18:04:31] <Hans Kristiansen> > <@folaht:matrix.org> There's something preventing coturn to run.

oh😮
[18:06:17] <Folât> I'm still busy trying to install coturn, so it might take a while before I can try starting it myself and see if I run into the same issue.
[18:21:03] <tituspijean> > <@folaht:matrix.org> Oh wait, I didn't notice that tituspijean filed the issue.

I completely forgot about it. 😅
[18:21:34] <tituspijean> > <@hansjk:matrix.org> Don't understand how it can be blocked when I have opened it.

Have you tried running the diagnosis again?
[18:24:47] <fritjof[m]> I got somewhere with my mastodon-web and mastodon-sidekiq failures... Unfortunately just to a new type of error messages....
https://paste.yunohost.org/putizonoce - Mastodon web
and https://paste.yunohost.org/zurogotuwe

[18:25:03] <fritjof[m]> are "friendly errors" a good thing?
[18:26:18] <Folât> fritjof[m]: You're still short of packages.
[18:27:52] <Folât> I'm not sure why it's trying to find so many packages. Are you building mastadon manually?
[18:28:15] <fritjof[m]> I wonder what happened to all of them. It was all working fine two days ago.
What packages do I need? I found out that "gem install" was the thing needed to resolve the ones I discovered hitherto
[18:29:06] <fritjof[m]> I've been running mastodon on this VPS for two months
[18:30:49] <Folât>
fritjof[m] From looking at the error, only these packages -> https://paste.yunohost.org/mebipokewo.css
[18:31:01] <Hans Kristiansen> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> Have you tried running the diagnosis again?

Same result: https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/gokedebowo
[18:31:33] <fritjof[m]> > <@folaht[m]:libera.chat> fritjof[m] From looking at the error, only these packages -> https://paste.yunohost.org/mebipokewo.css

that is a lot of packages....
[18:31:47] <fritjof[m]> well.... guess I should get to work then.
[18:32:05] <Folât> Try installing one and see if that makes a change.
[18:34:16] <Folât> https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/dimorawaci Hurray, I've got the same issue as Hans.
[18:35:11] <Hans Kristiansen> 😬
[18:42:03] <fritjof[m]> > <@folaht[m]:libera.chat> Try installing one and see if that makes a change.

I tried a few. Still getting this: https://paste.yunohost.org/ufijudewiw
BUT when trying "gem install puma" I got:
Error installing puma:
ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

current directory: /var/lib/gems/2.7.0/gems/puma-5.6.5/ext/puma_http11
/usr/bin/ruby2.7 -I /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby -r ./siteconf20220911-41646-1verlvv.rb extconf.rb
mkmf.rb can't find header files for ruby at /usr/lib/ruby/include/ruby.h

You might have to install separate package for the ruby development
environment, ruby-dev or ruby-devel for example.
"

Should i try going for one of those dev-environments, maybe? Which one in that case?
[18:53:36] <Folât> fritjof[m]: I would try installing puma like this instead: `sudo apt install puma`
[18:54:15] <fritjof[m]> > <@folaht[m]:libera.chat> * fritjof[m]: I would try installing puma like this instead: `sudo apt install puma`

I did and got: puma is already the newest version (4.3.8-1+deb11u2).

[18:54:26] <Folât> ....
[18:54:29] <fritjof[m]> the plot thickens
[18:55:14] <fritjof[m]> Will be interesting to see what the passing of midnight will bring. maybe all works tomorrow.
[18:56:00] <Folât> Yeah, I'm busy with Hans' problem which is now my own really. I don't have much to do tomorrow, so I could try and help.
[18:56:29] <centralscrutinizer[m]> good evening I am having issues after the buster update to reinstall the mautrix whatsapp bridge:
https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/powidisido
[18:58:03] <centralscrutinizer[m]> it also failed to restore the app from a backup:
https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/mugekizixu
[18:59:53] <centralscrutinizer[m]> i was trying to find informations about the proper way to clean synapse and yunohost from previous installation of the bridge, but I can't find the in the github issues page
[19:07:11] <Folât> centralscrutinizer[m]: Have you done a diagnosis and check all services to see if they're okay?
[19:17:41] <Folât> `WARNING - cp: cannot stat '/etc/matrix-__APP__/conf.d/app\_service.yaml': No such file or directory` \<- I'm going to make a guess that `__APP__` is not correct and you should file this issue to the maintainers.
[19:18:24] <Folât> https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/mautrix_whatsapp_ynh/issues
[19:20:17] <Folât> `WARNING - cp: cannot stat '/etc/matrix-__APP__/conf.d/app\_service.yaml': No such file or directory` \<- I'm going to make a guess that `__APP__` is a placeholder and thus not correct and you should file this issue to the maintainers.
[19:31:33] <centralscrutinizer[m]> > <@folaht[m]:libera.chat> * centralscrutinizer[m]: Have you done a diagnosis and check all services to see if they're okay?

yes all services are ok (with the exception. of some minor warnings not related).
[19:37:40] <centralscrutinizer[m]> i will try to fill a meaningful report
[19:38:51] <Folât> I think it's an issue with the current install script that for some reason is now literally searching for a `matrix-__APP__` folder
[20:10:14] <centralscrutinizer[m]> could it be related to:
https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/mautrix_whatsapp_ynh#overview
** Attention: always backup and restore the Yunohost matrix_synapse et mautrix_whatsapp apps together!**

[20:10:35] <centralscrutinizer[m]> since I actually restored synapse
[20:11:33] <centralscrutinizer[m]> I could try to uninstall synapse and then restore both synapse and the bridge?
[20:12:16] <centralscrutinizer[m]> i am afraid I would loose this working configuration tough,
[20:12:30] <centralscrutinizer[m]> * i am afraid I would loose this working configuration though
[20:27:23] <Folât> I think it's best to get someone to install it as well and see if that person runs into the same issue.
[23:17:04] <drsu[m]> Hello, I'm a noob running yunohost 4.4.2.14 on a VM in Debian, had some recent problems with read-only filesystem that fixed after rebooting the VM. Problems came back, fixed after running fsck at startup of the VM. Now things are still not stable. On the web interface I can't get logs or diagnosis, returning 504 Gateway Time-out. SSH in and I get "root@yunohost:~# sudo yunohost log share /var/log/yunohost/yunohost-api.log
Warning: Another YunoHost command is running right now, we are waiting for it to finish before running this one
Warning: Still waiting...
and that's been going on for an hour. In the meanwhile, nextcloud (most important app I'm running) is working and I'm reluctant to do anything to mess it up before the work week starts as my small office relies on it. I did get [this](https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/ponuxunire) while it was working some. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!
[23:29:46] <drsu[m]> The log I was waiting for finally just finished https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/inepoxamop
