[19:54:30] <aekone_> hi! is there a way to run a Monero node on Yunhost? (easily bc I'm not an expert)
[20:24:25] <orhtej2> > <@csvrn:matrix.org> hi! is there a way to run a Monero node on Yunhost? (easily bc I'm not an expert)

none that I can find in the catalog
[21:01:02] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> Hi, I have a question. For various reasons too long to explain, I had to switch to a noho.st domain provided by the Yunohost project. However, when I go to add a new (sub)domain, the text explaining why you can only have one such domain mentions that in the medium/long term I should pay for my own domain. Can anyone explain to me why?
[21:20:59] <tufek> You mean admin panel or cli shows that? Can you show us the text or the exact terms? Don't remember about such limitation or incentive 🤔
[22:19:36] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> Sure, give me a bit
[22:19:50] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> "You have already registered/subscribed to a DynDNS domain from the YunoHost project. By design, this feature is limited to one such domain per server. If you want to add a subdomain of your already subscribed domain, please use the 'Add a domain I own, or a subdomain' option above. If you want to use a completely different domain, you should first remove your existing DynDNS domain. DynDNS domains are good when starting with self-hosting, but on the medium/long term, we recommend buying your very own domain name to some registrar to have full ownership of your domain."
[22:20:38] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> This is in the admin panel at the screen for adding a new domain to the domain list.
[22:31:14] <tufek> ah ok, indeed I guess it complains because YNH can't handle two different domains pointing to the same IP, but you should be able to add subdomains
[22:33:43] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> I have already added several subdomains. I just want to know why I should use a purchased domain for medium/long term use
[22:38:26] <tufek> probably if you need some extra nifty parameters, and also maybe because YNH philosophy would tends to help people having full control of their setup, nevertheless buying a domain to a registrat is only a suggestion and not mandatory if you don't want to
[22:52:06] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> Alright
[22:55:11] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> On that note, this isn't strictly Yunohost stuff, but the domain I bought got slapped with a serverHold status from the registry and I haven't gotten any response from them despite messaging them almost a week ago. I chose the .icu TLD; was that a bad choice? Are there any reccommended registries I can use that won't shut me down? My best guess as to why I was given the status is either it's a glitch in the system or they somehow didn't like that I had some NSFW stuff on Nextcloud.
[23:21:05] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> Nervmind, I did my own research on it.
[23:21:52] <@genderneutralnoun:matrix.org> So essentially: is there a way to disable the server sending me constant emails due to me being the admin and it finding problems? After my research, I think that's what caused the serverHold status.
