<Buster Keaton> Router - TP Link Archer C6
[10:11:28]
<Buster Keaton> So, I know that the ports have been blocked by ISP, and its fine for now. so I can't use nohost domains and duckdns domains. understood.
[10:12:19]
<Buster Keaton> the issue is think, and please correct me if I am wrong, my local devices can't resolve the supi.local or anything.local domains
[10:12:57]
<Buster Keaton> and I think therefore, I cannot connect jellyfin or add map nexcloud share as a network drive in windows.
[10:13:06]
<Buster Keaton> so I want to solve this issue.
[10:15:18]
<Buster Keaton> Similarly, is it possible to have Immich running only locally. I am fine with all these apps running only locally. but because there is this domain made by yunohost - something.local, instead of ipadress:port, i think the the services such as nextcloud, jellyfin, can't talk or identify my yunohost server. This is my understanding. I maybe very wrong.
[10:17:52]
<tituspijean> .local domains are "broadcast" over the network with the mDNS protocol. The service "yunomdns" takes care of it. I see it is running, though can you check its logs to see if it is not complaining about something.
On the otherhand, the clients need to be compatible. What I do know:
- jellyfin worked fine with local domains last time I tried (last year I think?), but the autodiscovery (with port 1900) was a bit buggy (the server was discovered by the clients, but I had to write again the address manually?!)
- as for nextcloud, it should work also with browser access, though I do not know what the windows network drive thingy expects as address. What did you put?
[10:19:16]
<tituspijean> The ipaddress:port trick might work with jellyfin, but you would end up opening the internal port on the local network (might be fine, but absolutely do not open it on the router). As for Nextcloud, it will not work at all.
[10:19:37]
<tituspijean> In any case, it should work with the .local domains, so stick with that and let's try to fix it.
[10:22:57]

[10:23:10]
<Buster Keaton> Are you talking about this? It shows the server.

[10:25:15]
<tituspijean> that's so weird. And that URL works in the browser, you said?
[10:25:49]

[10:26:38]
<tituspijean> same question, does the URL (https://supi.local/nextcloud) work in the browser?
[10:26:41]
<Buster Keaton> https://upload.movim.eu/files/88faa17c20b8dd280b696837ac6ad4ff6193f451/k0poBdxDGKml/dafd2a76-ffde-4236-829d-e222e5b9ffcc.png
[10:26:44]
<Buster Keaton> Yes, both the links work
[10:29:54]
<Buster Keaton> Also, the app on android is the latest version. First I downloaded it from the F-droid. and then I uninstalled it, and downloaded it directly through the Github repository of official Jellyfin, the Libre-release. But still the same, issue.
[10:30:29]
<Buster Keaton> I want to check this -
.local domains are "broadcast" over the network with the mDNS protocol. The service "yunomdns" takes care of it. I see it is running, though can you check its logs to see if it is not complaining about something.
[10:30:36]
<tituspijean> For Jellyfin, try opening its internal port in the firewall (should be 8096, though check with `yunohost app setting jellyfin port`)
[10:31:23]
<Buster Keaton> it says 8095
[10:31:35]
<tituspijean> If you can resolve it from the browser, then it works on the computer, but maybe not on the clients (though doubtful)
[10:31:58]
<tituspijean> > <Buster Keaton> it says 8095
then open that one, and specify `https://supi.local:8095/jellyfin`
[10:33:40]
<Buster Keaton> https://upload.movim.eu/files/88faa17c20b8dd280b696837ac6ad4ff6193f451/wpyVv3UXSScv/zb2rhgycb1Lt8dytrZgwny6ChcZrE5pQDCtzRB8zUExy7szjD.jpg
[10:34:00]
<tituspijean> and without `/jellyfin` ?
[10:34:19]
<Buster Keaton> Same. doesnt work.
[11:02:42]
<tituspijean> Oh sorry, you should remove https and put http instead
[11:02:42]
<tituspijean> try again with /jellyfin (or without)
[11:02:42]
<tituspijean> I actually just seen a "LocalNetworkAddresses" parameter in Jellyfin's config that might be interfering, but I need to be at home to debug that and experiment.
[11:02:43]
<Salamandar> you should remove the port
[11:03:36]
<Salamandar> jellyfin is just exposed via nginx to the standard https port
[11:11:17]

[11:13:47]
<Buster Keaton> Hmm How to check the log of yunomdns service? Its not in /var/www
[11:47:37]
<Salamandar> can you just access the domain name via your browser ?
[11:47:45]
<Salamandar> it's a better test than the jellyfin app
[11:48:06]
<tituspijean> (I asked him the very same things earlier :p)
[11:48:24]
<tituspijean> > <Buster Keaton> Hmm How to check the log of yunomdns service? Its not in /var/www

<Buster Keaton> Oh i am out now, will get back in an hour.
[12:43:27]
<trendx> Hello,
I am on windows 11 with mobaXterm. Yunohost is on a vps. I have setup everything. But I am not able to log in without password authentication.
I have a key. And have uploaded the (public)key to my server. It is in /home/.ssh/
After resetting the password authentication as per this page https://yunohost.org/en/security I get this error.
No supported authentication methods available (server sent: publickey)
What should I do differently in order to be able to login without password authentication?
[12:46:15]
<trendx> The key is in /home/user/.ssh/
[12:54:21]

[12:57:27]
<Buster Keaton> I have seen these errors since the beginning , but there was no critical error regarding the .local domains.
[13:08:42]
<tituspijean> @_bifrost_trendx=2fsupport=40conference.yunohost.org:aria-net.orgthe public key should be added in the text file named `/home/<user>/.ssh/authorized_keys`, is that the case?
[13:10:00]
<trendx> Ooh `authorized_keys` I think that is the problem. Going to try that one, thanks.
[13:13:09]
<trendx> > @_bifrost_trendx=2fsupport=40conference.yunohost.org:aria-net.orgthe public key should be added in the text file named `/home/<user>/.ssh/authorized_keys`, is that the case?
Yes, that worked, thanks a lot.
[13:17:09]
<tituspijean> 👍️
[14:19:37]
<SimplifiedPrivacy.com> Once Yunohost is working with yunohost native apps,
Is there any issue with installing external software from outside yunohost offerings via CLI? Assuming the user opens up the firewall to the relevant ports.
[14:20:56]
<tituspijean> @simplifiedprivacy:hackliberty.orgwere you able to fix your certificate generation issues?
[14:25:25]
<tituspijean> Regarding manually installing apps, I would advise:
- if the app is a simple webapp where you need to unzip HTML or PHP files, to use the My Webapp.
- if not:
- not to use all-in-one installers, they tend to break NGINX, try to install Apache, or do other crazy things
- to create a dedicated system user, and dedicated working directory, and have it run its own webserver that you can reverse proxy with the Redirect app

got a chance to to see this, anyone?
[14:49:22]
<tituspijean> ☑️Seen
But as I wrote earlier, I need to get back home and play with Jellyfin config to see if I can replicate the issue.

<joe> hello, i have yunohost on deb11, LDAP, when i install COIN 20231216~ynh1 , i can't login, is there a thing to do postinstall ? tx

[14:58:34]
<tituspijean> @icik9:matrix.orgthe app is not declared as compatible with either the SSO or LDAP, so I guess you need to handle the accounts manually?
[14:58:47]
<joe> ok, thank you :))
[15:27:18]
<SimplifiedPrivacy.com> Thanks tituspijean and Aleks! I'm waiting on a DNS record to update to test subdomain again.
[15:28:05]
<Buster Keaton> i installed Directory Lister and Improved file manager (IFM) to browse the folders of my pi. I need to edit the configuration, to add the path of the folders I want to browse. In case of IFM, https://github.com/misterunknown/ifm/wiki/Configuration I need to edit the root_public_url ? But I can't seem to find the file. I had edited it once, and then I wanted to restart the service to apply the changes, but I couldn't find that, and I forgot where was the file. Similarly, I am not able to figure out how to setup the Directory Lister too. :(
[15:28:06]
<SimplifiedPrivacy.com> Is there an easy way to transport the whole yunohost from 1 VPS to another? like docker
[15:32:57]
<tituspijean> @_bifrost_Buster=20Keaton=2fsupport=40conference.yunohost.org:aria-net.orgwhich directories do you want to make available through these apps?
[15:32:57]
<tituspijean> > Is there an easy way to transport the whole yunohost from 1 VPS to another? like docker
sure, backup the system, export the backup, import it, and restore it ;)
[15:38:42]
<Buster Keaton> /mnt/ directory. The external storage attached to the pi.
[15:45:36]
<tituspijean> The file should be at /var/www/ifm/ifm.php
Beware, the system user "ifm" should have read(/write?) access to /mnt, so that the PHP process can reach the directory
[15:46:55]
<Buster Keaton> oh i see
[15:48:33]
<Buster Keaton> Why you said beware? I am a noob so I don't understand the risk here.
[16:00:51]
<tituspijean> Beware, as in these apps give access through the browser to the filesystem, where you can read and write into files. If you are not cautious, you can allow anyone on the internet to access your filesystem, and you trust the app to not have bugs or security flaws. It is a bit of fear-mongering, but for safety it's better to minimize the parts of the file system they can reach.
[17:00:27]
<Buster Keaton> Oh ok. What is the alternative then?
[20:38:14]
<tituspijean> If that's your need, just do it, but keep in mind this when configuring the apps
[20:38:15]
