[00:22:45] <inconvi> **The Manifest of The Ultimate Hope**
_"Won't Give into Darkness," CK2C._

History taught a hard lesson: The greatest minds are hated & misunderstood by the general public. Galileo Galilei was literally burnt alive; Gregor Mendel, disrespectfully dismessed; Dmitri Mendeleev, mercilessly ridiculed. The list goes on to infinity. Why are they remembered today? They never gave up, they were on the right course, they never gave into Darkness, not a chance, they studied hard, they persisted and they prevailed by the true power of the world: Knowledge. Today couldn't be possible without The Other, folks like them, the outcasts, the trailblazers, the true best.

Be it the hateful mindless way of the stubborn heartless general public we could be still living in caves, chewing on parasite-filled uncooked meat and berries and sleeping on a rock; The following times of The Witch Hunt are an example of what this way leads to: Stagnation. In furthermore following, today's Chemistry is based on Alchemy what was forbitten back in The Witch Hunt times, and while Alchemy is in large part found on a bit questionable mysticism and had plenty of mistakes made along the way, without its followers persistence and its pharmacological inventions billions could be dead right now. Does the general public understand that? No, they do not, they will rather make exactly the same sort of mistakes over and over again. Why? In large part stem from various cognitive biases (defects), rooted very deep: Most countries' education systems do not do anything to help a being to mitigate or nullify it because a being lacking proper education is easier to manipulate and to control than a smart being who is in control. Some countries are an active example of how it leads to great suffering to the world: China, Russia, The US. They've failed to learn the lesson.

You, readers, are likely not like the general public in the past paragraphs. You've proven you can read beyond two paragraphs, unironically an achievement in the time of evergrowing illiteracy and other ill-inflictions in part driven by social and even environmental factors like Lead poisoning. Please do not lose hope despite all, be like the best and be glorious. Of course you've witnessed how a small group of trolls have poisoned XMPP and made a hatred campaign towards a marginilized non-binary LGTBQIA+ Furry (they/them only), you've seen how the trolls inveted the "M*rph" slur to harass the Furry for 5 years and how they employ sexism (forcing delusional "he/him" towards the Furry) and toxic Patriarchy in their wording, you've seen how hundreds decided to do the same because the being has the courage and wisdom to question Status Quo, offer critique (problem/solution) to many matters, and so on, which is very disliked by narcissists that have penetrated the XMPP Council and other similar positions allowing them to abuse the little power they've and attempt to silence The Other plus spread the trolls' propaganda. As well-evident by Twitter, disininformation and hatred spans faster and is more persistent than the "incovenient" truth, and it's the case here as well, on top of the fact that the narcissists are likely to abuse their position and attempt to erase history like Nazi Germany did to books, here erasing the Message Archive and attempting to force clients to delete the message as they always do.

You, readers, are unlikely to have the power to bring the crazy back to any notion of common sense or being humane (they never had it in the 1st place to be brought to), but that does not mean you should give up in this bad situation. Remember, losing hope is exactly what Darkness wants the most: Do not let it win. Everything that leads to their awful spiral being a broken record for centuries is entirely curable thanks to pharmacy for small adjustments and biotechnology for bigger long-term ones. The path of progress will never stop no matter what the Evil followers of Darkness may want: We will never give up.

Thank you for your time, dear readers.
[11:33:57] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> how does yunohost work
[11:34:06] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> like under the hood
[11:58:56] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> there's a team of smol opposums mages inside the server doing their best to magically keep every configuration right in exchange for snaks
[11:59:57] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> haha very funny
[12:00:22] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> so can you cut the furry shit out and please tell me how it actually works?
[12:01:21] <err404> Yunohost is a Debian Linux based installation
[12:01:34] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> yeah thats obvius
[12:02:00] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> it uses the same code name and its pretty much the only thing i know about yunohost
[12:02:30] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> but like what inbetween debian and the panel
[12:03:40] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> there's python and bash and ngninx and ldap and postfix/dovecot, and lua and vuejs .... https://github.com/YunoHost/yunohost
[12:07:00] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> interesting
[12:09:50] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> why do i need lvm and why cant i disable the swap
[12:10:20] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> https://aria.im/_bifrost/v1/media/download/Aa34g_vdL6svmd4TIa9S3bl73aDd2atw_0Hxf7HqKuHOgP8PBFwUPlbaZwXKL5mYDvzSbqb17K4XmdsMKlH6JkNCeYvRZr7QAG1hdHJpeC5vcmcvRVNjaVBvWUZkaUdHdGJzVGJEd0dMQXFm
[12:10:22] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> also why doesnt expert mode show up
[12:14:19] <err404> maybe you will be interested by the bash script here: https://install.yunohost.org it is used when you want install Yunohost on a pre-existing Debian installation
[12:17:56] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> i asume debian 13 isnt supported?
[12:18:31] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> i assume you didn't read the forum before asking?
[12:19:01] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> i only read the docs page
[12:19:40] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the doc says Debian 12
[12:20:21] <err404> yes, debian 13 is still not yet supported
[12:23:32] <lautre> > <@fjox_de:matrix.org> why do i need lvm and why cant i disable the swap

You can't disable the swap in the install because it's based on Debian. But later, after the instalation done, you can do what you want.
[12:23:59] <lautre> LVM is still a good choice
[12:24:44] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> in a normal debian install i can disable the swap so idk if its debians fault
[12:25:20] <lautre> It's not a Debian fault
[12:25:32] <lautre> The install by Yunohost is automatic, and pre-configured.
[12:26:13] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> then why even promt the disk creation menu
[12:26:32] <lautre> Why not, you can change some part as you want
[12:27:16] <lautre> I didn't installed Yunohost since long time, I forgot steps
[12:27:46] <lautre> If you use LVM, later you can reallocate swap to the other partitions
[12:28:11] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> (i'm not sure the dude is looking for anything except reason to complain because it doesn't fit perfectly its power-user use case)
[12:28:38] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> sorry
[12:28:43] <lautre> I means, after the installation, you can remove the swap, and have free space. It's easy with LVM
[12:31:24] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> don't even know why you'd want to *not* have swap, except for SD cards, it's basically giving up a few GB in exchange for the system being less likely to freeze because its runs out of RAM
[12:33:31] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> id prefurable have less disk io usage. also i heard swap can be problematic with systems that have high amounts of ram.
[12:34:58] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> how do i do that? cant find anything in the docs or in the panel that could do that
[12:39:17] <lautre> If you have high amount of ram, the swap won't be used. (if you have some page web describe the problem, I'm still curious)
[12:40:40] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> well on the proxmox maschine i use to host everything. when it still had swap it was contantly maxed out
[12:40:57] <lautre> Removing swap : (you still need to disable it first, edit the /etc/fstab)
https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/6/html/storage_administration_guide/swap-removing-lvm2
[12:42:15] <lautre> On VM, yes, I disable swap too, because I prefer it managed by Proxmox (I give swap to the Proxmox, but only to it)
[12:43:48] <lautre> After installed the VM, I disable the swap, and reallocate the partition (but, I did it long times ago)
[12:44:10] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> maybe i messed up my test install but i dont see anything about swap in /etc/fstab ?
[12:44:32] <lautre> with free -h, you can see if there is active swap
[12:44:44] <lautre> (I will give you proper command)
[12:45:14] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> it looks like theres no swap...
[12:45:32] <lautre> with (in root) # `swapon -s` you will have listed swap
[12:46:17] <lautre> in root?
[12:46:17] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> command doesnt exsist
[12:46:21] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> yes
[12:46:27] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> wait
[12:46:29] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> no
[12:47:17] <lautre> Strange, because `swapon -a` to active, and `swapoff -a` to disactive
[12:47:20] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> in root it says nothing
[12:47:38] <lautre> Don't write the #
[12:48:22] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> i cant copy and paste into the proxmox vnc thingy
[12:48:52] <lautre> You can try to select with the shift key pressed
[12:49:03] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> https://aria.im/_bifrost/v1/media/download/AZVO7CZ8k410UDtCMn48ob-z187JPrcxf4RHFZ1c58_PSOSoVXFOHndHawIiDJQP313pBggYAOHhORxDSvGHYipCeYvTneTQAG1hdHJpeC5vcmcvdXVIbkx1RVJVcU5tbVJnV0hzRE1DaU9w
[12:49:19] <lautre> But, may be you don't have any swap
[12:49:41] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> thats what free -h said
[12:49:47] <lautre> and `lsblk` ?
[12:50:11] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> https://aria.im/_bifrost/v1/media/download/AZ-KQVvLquxOZTr8_bkALoso93SNKDoc-X1wsJzWnpZBStM5TbwHwSE_1TJl1JJI92A-X0qTOsNRr0EYPuUsdydCeYvTrqmAAG1hdHJpeC5vcmcvekxjS2tOYUJpQnZ0ZHJlTWN4Rk1BeVds
[12:50:57] <lautre> No swap on disk (and no swapfile mounted)
[12:51:22] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> interesting
[12:51:46] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> when i installed it in that vm i didnt even promt me the disk partitioning menu
[12:52:31] <lautre> May be the new instaler didn't add swap because you have plenty of ram... ?
[12:53:17] *lautre is AFK playing to Unvanquished
[12:53:44] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> the vm only had 8gb of ram
[12:54:06] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> i probably some how messed up the install
[12:58:18] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> i apparently missed part of the message. large amounts of swap can be problematic with high amounts of ram.
[12:58:30] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> id still prefurably not have swap
[13:02:53] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> also i found out how to remove swap directly in the installer
[15:10:27] <sour.milk> Hello. My ynh 12.0.17 is on a small Linode vps. The only apps I run are Adguard, FreshRSS, and SearNXG. I have only one user - admin, me. I want to stay logged in to the apps. Right now, every few days, I have to re-authenticate. Is that possible?
[15:12:15] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> hmyeah that's a known issue discussed here https://github.com/YunoHost/issues/issues/2621
[15:14:09] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> possibly a workaround is to manually tweak "SESSION_VALIDITY" near the top of /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/yunohost/authenticators/ldap_ynhuser.py (and then restart yunohost-portal-api)
[15:14:20] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> but you'll need to re-tweak it manually after every upgrade of the yunohost package
[15:16:03] <sour.milk> Thanks. I'll write a script to re-implement the tweak regularly. So, I just change the value to something like SESSION_VALIDITY = 30 * 24 * 3600
[15:16:05] <sour.milk> ?
[15:16:27] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> yup
[15:17:00] <sour.milk> OK. Helpful... thank you!
[22:26:23] <fjox.win 🇩🇪⚡> Can I install yunohost on a pi5 via the remote method?
[22:41:15] <orhtej2> > <@fjox_de:matrix.org> Can I install yunohost on a pi5 via the remote method?

As long as the base armbian is based on bookworm - yes
