<rdkb> Do we do software recomendation here ? I need something where three of us can have an account of sorts, can offload files ( so no synchting - to save space on the devices we use we transfer files to hdd on yunohost ) and maybe shared notes, calendar for family tasks etc. Nextcloud comes first but i thought i ask because there may be more minimal solution
[11:15:39]
<bbohard> lufi, jirafeau maybe ?
[11:16:45]
<bbohard> there may be more, I do not know the catalog by heart
[11:17:26]
<bbohard> access can be restricted with ldap authentication. Don’t know about other authentication method.
[11:21:24]
<bbohard> they cover offload files need only
[11:22:06]
<bbohard> … not so relevant in fact, sorry :-)
[11:37:09]
<rdkb> Hm, copyparty solves that, but i meant something, for example my wife is a teacher, has to use ipad in school, has not bought the most expensive one, hence limited storage - i wanted to set something up she can "offload" her not needed files and presentations and whatnot there, leaving working space on ipad, untill needed. So syncronising backup is not, is there a word for it - moving backup?
[12:18:52]
<bbohard> I have only experience with nextcloud. Seafile seems to match the need though: virtual drive client, mobile apps
[12:22:20]
<bbohard> there's also an interface to configure samba shares
[13:01:06]
<rdkb> I added a second drive, is adding a mounting point to it now , yunohost.multimedia ( from where jellyfin streams movies ) sane or am i missing something ?
[13:01:34]
<rdkb> yunohost.multimedia is already populated with files, and is currently on another drive, so i guess im doing it wrong in my head
[13:01:55]
<err404> There is also Syncthing
[13:12:18]
<rdkb> But it keeps the original files on the device, and then synces any changes ?
[13:29:29]
<err404> I dont know precisely how it work
[13:31:33]
<bbohard> as far as I know, yes, it keeps files on synced devices. You can tweak which devices is permitted to add files to sync directory but I don’t see how this can help here.
[13:32:13]
<rdkb> Yeah, continius sync, so if i free space from my device it will "sync" that file deletion too. At least thats how i got it
[13:33:09]
<rdkb> but ill continue with nextcloud, guess it ticks most boxes, now im more concerned on how to move mountpoints. Im copying all the files to my personal folder, then i have to reedit fstab to have that yunohost.multimedia folder mounted to the new 2tb drive
[13:37:39]
<miro5001> There is my_webdav for files
I saw vikunja but didn't have time to test it, for notes
[13:38:03]
<err404> I use Nextcloud to synchronise photo/video from my smartphone (auto-upload), and for easy sharing folders and subfolders, with user or with a randomised link to share without login/password

<isAAAc> rdkb: if it could help:
https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/user_manual/en/files/desktop_mobile_sync.html
and
https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/user_manual/es/desktop/usage.html
[13:42:01]
<rdkb> Thanks! Im OK doing it manually from nextcloud app, for example i use my ipad for drawing and painting, as a hobby, and because apple is bastard when cooperating with other devices, when i want to save files somewhere - nextcloud does the trick.
[13:42:31]
<isAAAc> the better way is to test with safe gargabe file to see how server / device are doing by default, and then, i think perhaps tunning your client settings
