<limezy> Hi all ! What is the common policy for the package requirements ?
* Do we put the latest Yunohost version each time, to push users upgrading ?
* Do we put the earliest possible Yunohost version, to ensure some retrocompatibility (knowing it's harder to test on the long run, because the CI is under the latest Yunohost version) ?
[13:54:43]
<Aleks> limezy: imho (but that's debatable), the policy should be : only upgrade the requirement when there's an incentive to do it
- you are reworking / improving the package and needs a new helper or feature only available on 11.x ? Upgrade the requirement.
- you are just updating the sources and there's no need to update the requirement ? Don't do it
[13:56:00]
<Aleks> I'm not a huge fan of "let's support 4.x for one year", like, there's no point doing that, we don't have the energy for this, and Bullseye is already 1 year old (on Debian's release cycle) so clearly if in one year people are still on Buster when Debian release Bookworm, this is not a good thing
[13:56:20]
<Aleks> so slowly but surely incinting people to upgrade Yunohost to be able to upgrade the app is better
[14:35:37]
<limezy> Shouldn't we have then a kind of general policy, like some version you recommend as a minimum requirement at each period of time ?
[15:05:15]
<eric_G[m]> My personal policy as been to put requirements to 11.0.9 on every app I can. 😬
[15:26:54]
<limezy> OK will do that !
[15:27:33]
<eric_G[m]> (especially for apps using PHP8...)

Super cool project ! But licence looks strange, and it seems hard to package 😅
