[04:20:54] <Yunohost Git/Infra notifications> Job [#20537](https://ci-apps.yunohost.org/ci/job/20537) for influxdb_v2 failed miserably :(
[05:19:30] <azahto> Hi there! I have been trying to get through packaging HotCRP, but I am a bit lost with very basic things.
The source app (HotCRP here) is supposed to be downloaded from the git repository. Where does it goes ? Sorry for the very basic question (I am not that good with shell either, so it makes things harder)
[07:28:09] <tituspijean> azahto: you generally don't need to know where it goes (in a /tmp subdir), since you are supposed to deploy these sources with the appropriate helper 😉

[14:26:15] <m606> Hello, I was considering to package an app which has its own license agreement based on [FairCode principles](https://faircode.io/) stating: `You may use or modify the software only for your developpment learning purposes or for non-commercial use or personal use. You may not distribute the software or provide it to others . You may not alter, remove, or obscure any licensing, copyright, or other notices of the licensor in the software. Any use of the licensor’s trademarks is subject to applicable law.`
https://github.com/idurar/idurar-erp-crm/blob/master/LICENSE
That wouldn't work with YNH, right?
[14:31:22] <tituspijean> It's a bit more complex than that, since the code is subject to multiple licences (cf. first paragraph of the LICENSE you linked to), we will not be able to find a suitable SPDX code for its licenses. Overall I would say that the project is open source but not totally free, maybe the antifeature flag will be enough. i'll let other give their opinion.
[17:50:59] <m606> Thanks for sharing your view.
> the code is subject to multiple licences
That is what it is written indeed, but practically so far the repo contains no ".ee" files, so everything is either under that "Developer Trial License/Sustainable Use License" I linked to, or some FOSS license - I assume - for the components the developer has integrated but not developed himself.
> the project is open source but not totally free
That is my understanding too, my worry at the light of above extract of the license is whether YNH entity can be found guilty of "distributing" the sotfware?
[17:56:19] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> "You may not distributeur thé software" ugh
[17:57:50] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> That's sound pretty shitty for something supposedly 'fair' .. Like "you may only use thé software if you have the 3 PhD required to setup everything yourself", or maybe i misunderstood idk
[18:00:29] <m606> well i am under the impression that this is not a deeply meditated license, but that basically as it is called "Developper Trial License", my guess this is meant for Developping and to Try the software.
[18:00:40] <selfhoster1312> that's not free software, and that's not even even based on "fair code" whose first rule according to the site is `is generally free to use and can be distributed by anybody`
[18:02:26] <selfhoster1312> so `You may not distribute the software or provide it to others` makes it definitely proprietary software :(
[18:10:18] <m606> Hmm yes indeed... Even though as you point out, it is paradoxical as it does not match the "fair code principles" it mentions. I was not planning to package it right away anyway, I may try to get in touch with the author whether he actually means it free to distribute or not.
Thanks for the feedbacks.
