[03:03:17] <beedee> im having trouble accessing my synapse postgres db using admier. all apps are installed through yunohost. I tried following the directions for adminder but /etc/yunohost/apps/synapse/settings.yml doesn't give me details other than the db password. i've tried that in conjunction with the admin user
[03:10:18] <beedee> is there another place the postgres info is stored?
[05:33:30] <Azu> I think with synapse you're meant to use the admin panel they offer in the apps catalog
[05:33:55] <Azu> I just use conduit, which had a special room where I can just feed admin commands

credential are [set here](https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/synapse_ynh/blob/62ad37a957af05b0ecd583d5ec717673d3b7cc10/scripts/install#L32C1-L33C30), so `db` is `matrix_synapse` and user is also `matrix_synapse`. Having said that, are you sure you want to modify something inside this db? consider at least making a proper backup before venturing forth

[13:02:12] <PepeCyB> Question about redis:

I would need to update redis-server and -tools from the current 6.0.16-1+deb11u2 to 7.0.10-1~bpo11+1 (I need redis for Firefish in version 7 or higher).

Is it problematic for the operation of YunoHost if I update to the backports version 5:7.0.10-1~bpo11+1 via apt?

generally speaking `backports` are untested in context of ynh and are discouraged

is v7 needed-needed? current integration does not explicitly pull any version: https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/firefish_ynh/blob/master/scripts/install
[13:15:46] <hwozea> Hi, anyone here able to use RapidVPN to forward ports 80 and 25?
[13:18:17] <PepeCyB> Mateusz Szymański

Yes, version 7 is really necessary. In the source repository under dependencies it says that redis >= 7 is required: https://git.joinfirefish.org/firefish/firefish#-dependencies

When running Firefish (1.0.5-rc), there is at least one error resulting from the fact that redis is only available in v. 6: The antennas (news-picker) no longer work, they are always empty. Another user who hosts Firefish himself (without YunoHost) has updated to redis 7 on a hint and now the antennas work correctly again.

I know that backports can cause problems, that's why I'm asking here ;-) However, I'm not really familiar with redis either and don't know about backward compatibility.

I skimmed through v7 release notes and there are not THAT MANY breaking changes so IDK. You can pull v7 from their repo and forget about backports perhaps?
[13:29:02] <PepeCyB> I thought an update via the backports version (https://packages.debian.org/bullseye-backports/amd64/redis-server/download) would be the least "harmful" for the Debian system YunoHost is running on. A pull from the git of redis and manual installation would require - or am I wrong - that I uninstall the installed version 6 and then install the current version by hand. But that would certainly break a number of dependencies. I fear that this could cause serious problems with future YunoHost updates.

Maybe I'll just wait for the YunoHost update to Debian 12 (however long that takes). So far only the antennas are affected. They are not essential for me. And I hope that the few users of my instance can also live with it.
