[00:25:04] <tripop> > <[Alien]> tripop: I use Transmission + copy/symlink feature in -arrs

why did you mean by the symlink feature in -arrs ? like in settings ?
[00:25:30] <tripop> or i add a symlink with transmission and the root folder ?
[04:00:01] <undefined[m]> > <@ynhuser:libera.chat> Hi! I tried to move to another server, but during the backup restoration process, a bunch of applications weren't restored. Here are the logs:

That seems the reason for nextcloud to fail
[05:29:21] <mcint> I've added a second IP address for use with WG. However, it's now causing admin DNS diagnosis to fail, expecting IP#1 instead of IP#2 (although both point to the same host), and this issue prevents me from requesting a new Let's Encrypt cert for another app
[05:30:26] <mcint> yunohost seems overly restrictive here, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or work around it
[05:50:47] <mcint> Ok, per the diagnosis errors, I've swaped yuno IP#1 and wg.yuno IP#2 into yuno IP#2 and wg.yuno IP#1, and the error just swaps the IPs. Well, both IPs are listed for both hosts, but yuno errors anyway
[05:51:28] <mcint> it was very helpful to update /etc/resolv.dnsmasq.conf to include my nameservers directly
[05:54:01] <mcint> Yunopaste does not correctly remove the "Current value" although I would expect it to, while it does remove the "Expected value", from DNS errors section of yunopaste
[06:25:00] <undefined[m]> > <@mcint:libera.chat> yunohost seems overly restrictive here, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or work around it

`$ sudo yunohost domain cert install <domain> --no-checks` will request a cert without the need for a successful diagnosis

[07:42:10] <ted_768> hi everyone. im setting up my first yunohost on a vps - and got problems with the dns configuration of my domain.
[07:45:35] <ted_768> according to the documentation https://yunohost.org/en/dns_config?q=%2Fdns_config the dns-types SRV and TXT are needed. These are not available in the dns-configuration of my hoster. The settings there onyl show A, AAAA, MXE, ME, CNAME, SPF, URL Forwarding, URL Frame.  As the SRV ist marked as bold/mandatory im unsure what to do.
[07:47:13] <ted_768> so far i only installed yunohost via curl - and now am at the first step of the configuration via browser (which says I already have a domain name…… and I have set my DNS correctly.").
[07:59:39] <[Alien]> > > <[Alien]> tripop: I use Transmission + copy/symlink feature in -arrs

yes, there is an option to use hardlinks instead of copying
[08:18:58] <eliotlepote> Hi everyone, I have an issue with the migration to bullseye, apparently it is a problem with mariadb, the log are here https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/uxexiqiyip and I really have no clue on how to deal with it. I use ynh on a raspberry pi 4.

Known issue, please backup and reinstall new yunohost
[08:45:09] <smoothoperatorgr[m]> fix the mariadb first
[09:55:52] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> Wtf you dont need to reinstall yunohost for this x_X

Didin't find this option anywhere on radarr and lidarr
[10:13:16] <tripop> It's okay i fond a way. Just had to add -arr user on www-data groups

[11:20:59] <tripop> How can i SIMPLY just rise to more MB for e-mail on yunohost ???
[11:22:42] <tripop> no wiki, no docs... no easy way to change this.. For something this important.
[11:23:21] <tripop> Like... Organisation and all. 2 Mb is DAMN SMALL and no other mail provider have this small upload size. When where's self hosted. What's the logic here, really ?
[11:24:05] <tripop> So when someone go to their self-hosted webmail, errors show for images and every documents ! So great ! User will not leave right away after this
[11:29:11] <tripop> Why just... put the same config EZVEROTHER WEBMAIL IN THE EARTH have ? Really ? 2Mb. And after people wonder why people not self-hosted ? Well because you need to nano a php.ini files JUST to... have bigger upload in a mail. Like we are at this state actually of how easy it is
[11:29:57] <undefined[m]> o_O
[11:32:46] <undefined[m]> The Yunohost's postfix has a default `message_size_limit` of ~25 MB. If your (php based) mail client does not allow uploads > 2 MB then either configure that value or jus use a "real" mail client.
[11:34:13] <undefined[m]> And btw, everybody is welcome to contribute to Yunohost and to the ynh apps.
[11:39:35] <tripop> "yunohost upload size limit" don't show anything on google search
[11:39:46] <tripop> The php.ini show that upload size is 2mb
[11:40:29] <tripop> `message_size_limit` is not `upload_size_limit`, also
[11:42:17] <undefined[m]> `/etc/postfix/main.cf` -> `message_size_limit = 35914708`
[11:42:46] <undefined[m]> tripop[m]: If you have found the upload size limit option in the php.ini, why you just don't increase the value???
[11:43:20] <tripop> > <@undefined[m]:libera.chat> tripop[m]: If you have found the upload size limit option in the php.ini, why you just don't increase the value???

That what i do. Don't even know if it's this that i have to increase
[11:45:03] <undefined[m]> So what is your question/problem? At first it seemed like you just wanted to tell us all how shitty Yunohost is?
[11:49:51] <tripop> The problem is there's no easy doc, no forum post around something THIS important that file upload on mail ?
[11:50:39] <tripop> You know i managed a organization with yunohost. So when i got friends that WORK on it tell me they cannot send IMPORTANT files on .pdf because roundmail decide were still in the 1999 and put 2mb file upload. Kind of annoying
[11:51:13] <tripop> Also very annoying to see... Well, nobobdy care. There's no UI for this, no easy way to do this, no easy doc to follow to do this.
[11:52:03] <tripop> So yeah you read 2008 post about how php work. Just for this. Just to send a more than 2mb pdf file, for example. That's all. That's my rant.
[11:52:38] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> You mean the software you are using for free and respects your freedom and is developed by volunteers is not perfect so you have to be toxically complaining about it as if this is unnaceptable ?
[11:53:13] <tripop> No i mean free software just put a solution and don't care about users, yeah.
[11:53:38] <tripop> Like put defaul config and don't even THINK about a way to users change it. Like it's at THIS state of "What.. the .. what ? user ? I just speak to dev here"
[11:54:06] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> The project doesnt owe you anything, aa said in the free software license, there is no guarantee provided, it is made in the hope that it will be useful, etc. If it's not then you're free to use any other stuff ...
[11:54:19] <tripop> "Oh just change a php.ini with sudo permission that's not that hard"

Every way of solving issues, everytime, for everything.
[11:54:39] <tripop> That's just mean : get a admin for your self-hosted. And make it work full time for free on it.
[11:55:37] <tripop> And we talk about.. like e-mail ? The first technology on web that exist ? How can we not get THIS yet ? Wow. FOSS hun ?
[11:56:12] <tripop> So yeah, my friend go to GMail because guess what ? So easy. They put a file and it send ! How crazy. We are in 2022 that's awesome
[11:56:18] <tripop> So, bye. End of my rant.
[11:56:52] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> Devs dont care about users yeah, they just work half-time on the project because ???
[11:56:59] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> for free*
[11:57:00] <emile[m]> bye bye :)
[11:58:48] <emile[m]> I just read php-fpm of roundcube and rainloop and they rewrite upload_max_filesize both
[11:59:44] <emile[m]> https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/rainloop_ynh/blob/master/conf/php-fpm.conf#L449 https://github.com/YunoHost-Apps/roundcube_ynh/blob/master/conf/php-fpm.conf#L432
[11:59:56] <tripop> It's funny because you talk like i ask for dev to just redo all the project from sources or something like that when i talk about a default string on a .ini file that's just... dumb default settings.
[12:00:44] <tripop> Ok i will tell that to my friends that's just want to send a 4mb .pdf that it lied to me then
[12:19:21] <undefined[m]> tripop[m]: Maybe Yunohost or self-hosting in general is not your thing. But behaving like a naughty toddler who doesn't get exactly what he wants right away without having to do the slightest thing for it, without using terms like "please" and "thank you", is definitely the wrong way to get support. Both here and in real life. You're welcome.
[12:20:27] <tripop> Yeah yeah, write a novel about the fact it's too hard for dev to think about how people exange files and webmail in 2022 and change a default string value. I listen
[12:23:38] <tripop> "People need more than 2mb to send files with mail you know ? especially for professional needs. Could be good to add a easy way to change this"

"Wowow ?!? Go make our own project man ! FOSS is free ! We're volonteers Put please and thank you at every word !"

Yeah, yeah. Ok.
[12:25:51] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> "Yeah silly FOSS devs who don't even like when people are flooding toxic rants omg they always say "Go make your own project!" !!!
[12:26:23] <tripop> Also when you put please and thank you on real life on anything you just get screwed. Because we're not living in a healthy world when people are nice and all. That's not true. Also when you're nice and polite on support chat and all.. You're just get ignored. I swear : everytime : ignored
[12:28:00] <undefined[m]> So THAT is your problem, i see. This explains alot.
[12:28:04] <tripop> But yeah i'm angry so 'im toxic i just will go
[12:28:12] <undefined[m]> Thank you
[12:28:55] <tripop> Angry because AGAIN friends and people that NEED my self-hosted are AGAIN block by stuffs. So yeah it's on my side at the end
[12:29:32] <tripop> But anyway, we're all alone when our admin on a website i guess that's the point. At the end our alone
[12:31:24] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> > <@tripop:nullzone.fr> It's funny because you talk like i ask for dev to just redo all the project from sources or something like that when i talk about a default string on a .ini file that's just... dumb default settings.

- Did I assume you ask people to redo the entire project ? You just come here flooding your toxic rant and this ain't the first time. What do you think will happen exactly ? Tell us.
- Stressing the fact that this is a volunteer project is not just some random fact. The project is maintained by a community. The main resource of the project is volunteer energy. If you flood toxic rant, you're effectively sabotaging the project.
- Fun fact : this upload limit is probably not something we chose, is probably Debian's package default. Hell, the very idea of the project is "This is unacceptable to assume that people will selfhost when there's so many parameters to tweak and technicalities to be aware of, we shall make a distro where everything is simple". Except there's so many details it's pretty hard to get everything right because we're effectively fighting nerds that decided they don't need to choose a decent default value because as you explain it's expected that "herp derp they will ssh and edit the file".
- By the time we wrote all of this, you could have created an issue or even a pull request
- Also stop thinking it's just "as simple as changing a value in a file". There's also upload limits in nginx and maybe postfix too. So it's not like a 30-sec work.
- And just for the sake of arguing, it could also be said that being able to send 2MB attachments in mail is not a super sustainable expectation. That expectation was created by GAFAM and create the illusion that disk space is free and unlimited and it's fine to store X MB attachments that you sent 20 years ago forever, instead of using ephemeral file upload systems.
[12:32:20] <jcdye> Pas moyen d'envoyer les logs dans ce chat... échec à l'envoi
[12:32:33] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> > <@tripop:nullzone.fr> Angry because AGAIN friends and people that NEED my self-hosted are AGAIN block by stuffs. So yeah it's on my side at the end

yeah, AGAIN, "omg this free software project that i use for free and is ran by less than 10 people is not perfect. zomg congratz sherlock"

[12:33:05] <JPP70> C'est bon aussi pour tcp et ipp
[12:33:05] <JPP70> Le port 631 est-il fermé ? Apparemment non (je n'y connais rien en réseau...)

[12:35:07] <tripop> I could understand when it's new tech, when it's new project, experimental stuffs. But WEBMAIL i mean GOD DAMN
[12:35:27] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> Fun fact bro : some other self-hosting projects decided to not even try to support email because it's just too damn complex
[12:35:31] <tripop> 10 people ? Webmail, metronome, roudncube. 10 peoples ? Damn.
Also i just read "yeah, selfhosting not subtainable for groups of peoples and organization yet" then. So why sell it by teeling the opposite ? Because, again : mail guys... Like.. the main way of communication on the net ?
[12:35:35] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> yeah GOD DAMN
[12:35:46] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> maybe put more caps and swearing in your messages, that will solve everything bro
[12:36:09] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> if you think "this is just email", then clearly you don't realize what you're talking about
[12:36:27] <tripop> Yeah we just loose then and all organization just made gmail account then.
[12:36:29] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> in computer stuff, "ancient yet widespread" usually means "it's an entire nighmare behind the scene"
[12:36:41] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> and whose fault is it then ?
[12:36:48] <tripop> Not users :)
[12:36:55] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> :)

non ici on parle principalement francais ou anglais, choisi ce que tu préfères

[13:25:22] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> hi I'm trying to host nextcloud through yonohost, I used to proxy it with cloudflare tunnels, I'm trying to do the same but am unable to. could someone please help me figure out why it doesn't work?
[13:29:46] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> I tried installing cloudlfared on the system and then setting up a tunnel that proxies http://localhost. when i try and connect to it from `nextcloud.nullrequest.com` i get an error about being redirected to many times
[15:25:35] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> okay I made some progress, I can get it to proxy through another system, I'm going to try and get tunnels to use that system to proxy through
[15:53:53] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> I finally got everything working! it was a pita 3/10 do not recommend
[16:15:16] <tituspijean> 🏳️‍⚧️ nullrequest(she/her): thanks for trying it out! could you summarize your steps for the community? 😅
[16:38:21] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> Ummm well bassically i have a pi that acts as an ingress and i have a tunnel running on the yunohost box. The tunnel proxies to pi which proxies back to the yunohost box. This is bassically a big just don't
[16:41:59] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> is it possible to migrate a yunohost box to postgresql? mainly asking since i am planing on deploying a custom blog framework which depends heavily on postgres only features and I've had bad experiences running multiple sql servers on the same box
[16:42:54] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> i'n my ~small experience there's nothing preventing multiple SQL servers to run on the same machine, we have multiple people doing so
[16:43:38] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> probably just my luck but I've had weird issues and also don't have a lot of memory to play with
[16:44:11] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> do you have anything actually relying on mysql at the moment ?
[16:44:28] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> nextcloud I believe
[16:45:09] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> I've run it before uisng postgres on nixos so I'm pretty sure it can be migrated, but I'm not sure if the yunohost admin thing would like that
[16:48:39] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> nah it certainly won't like it ...
[16:49:34] <🏳⚧ nullrequest(she/her)> damn that sucks, I guess I'll deploy on the pi instead
[20:14:27] <Sil2064> Bonjour, nouvel utilisateur, je bute sur un problème.
