[01:44:29] <Wylel> Do you have `muc` set as a CNAME still?
[06:34:10] <toromtomtom> > <@wylelb:matrix.org> This happens after you resend the welcome email, correct? Is it immediately after, or is there a delay?

Wylel: Immediately. Could you (or anyone else) try to create a new account and see whether you receive the activation email? Would be interesting to know if this happens to everyone who tries to register on the forum right now.

Just double checked, yes and can ping it with a response
[08:11:36] <Fritjof> So, if I want to replace my SSD in the old PC I'm running YNH on at home, with one that is bigger - how do I do that in the best way?
Is this correct:
Backup full disk of "old" SSD to external drive -> physically replace the old SSD with the new one -> attach the external disk with the backup -> install YNH on new disk and choose "restore from backup" before running postinstall ?
[08:12:46] <Fritjof> or: take out "old" SSD, attach it to another PC and attach "new" SSD to the same PC and clone the disk?
[08:58:18] <Salamandar> Hey, I got a weird issue
[08:58:23] <Salamandar> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/HdDbCWuoUyVtnageKgaSlQVp
[08:58:27] <Salamandar> A zombie is running my backups
[08:58:29] <Salamandar> 😛
[09:27:06] <lapineige> > <@fritjof:deepfunk.dk> or: take out "old" SSD, attach it to another PC and attach "new" SSD to the same PC and clone the disk?

Yeah I would clone the disk (both being offline) from a live USB on the same PC, if that's possible. Then remove the old one, change the new one position in case your `fstab` use physical address (/dev/sda for instance), and here you go :)
[09:27:40] <lapineige> Restoring from a backup should be fine, but you would loose any non-Yunohost configuration, such as software installed.
[09:29:13] <Salamandar> > <@fritjof:deepfunk.dk> or: take out "old" SSD, attach it to another PC and attach "new" SSD to the same PC and clone the disk?

That’s the way to do it. If you want to be able to stop/continue the process, I suggest to use `ddrescue`.

[11:12:15] <retiolus> Bonjour, tous les jours je reçois cette erreur à travers le mail :
The configuration file '/etc/resolv.dnsmasq.conf' has been manually modified and will not be updated

et tous les jours je lance :
`yunohost tools regen-conf dnsmasq --force`
je ne comprend pas...

[11:23:08] <beelu> Tu n'aurais pas vpnclient d'installé ?
[12:42:22] <Fritjof> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> That’s the way to do it. If you want to be able to stop/continue the process, I suggest to use `ddrescue`.

OK - I will try that.
Am I at risk of running into any problems if I have added an automatic mnt to my current installation? - Like, will it give an error about not being able to find that disk if I detach it?
[12:54:03] <Salamandar> I'm not sure I see what you mean. Is the SSD not your system disk ?
[12:54:23] <Salamandar> And tl;dr if you do this, you'll get an error for sure
[12:55:38] <Salamandar> Another way to do this, if your ssd is *only data*, not system. is to :
* make as read-only the old SSD
* plug the new SSD into your server
* transfer with rsync the data from one SSD to the other

[13:05:00] <Fritjof> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> I'm not sure I see what you mean. Is the SSD not your system disk ?

Sorry for being unclear. English is not my first language.

What I mean is this:

My current YNH-server is an old lenovo laptop with an ultrabay that contains an extra disk. I have moved my yunohost.backups to that disk and done the "automatic mount on boot" - described here: https://yunohost.org/en/moving_app_folder
Now I am worried that when I detach the "main" disk of the machine and clone it via another machine it will give me problems because the cloning will be done without the ultrabay-disk nearby....

[13:05:52] <Fritjof> wait, I think that this formulation of my question actually answered it to me.
the new disk will be detached also, so why should it care about not "seeing" the ultrabay one.
[13:05:58] <Fritjof> Sorry for this.
[13:06:37] <Salamandar> Alright, I understand now. You might need to uncomment the corresponding line in the /etc/fstab file to prevent any boot issues caused by the disk not being present
[13:11:00] <Salamandar> Once you plug the new SSD in, you can uncomment the lines
[13:11:35] <Salamandar> You will also need to resize the partition in the new SSD, because it will keep its original size from the old SSD
[13:15:37] <Jürgen> Folks,
I just installed the ntfy application on my YNH. Are browser notifications supported? I tried it with Edge on my business laptop and with Safari on iPhone. When using ntfy via https://ntfy.sh address, I can enable browser notifications. With ntfy on YNH notifications seem not to work.

On my iPhone w/ Safari I get following message:
[14:02:07] <Wylel> > <@toromtomtom:matrix.org> Wylel: Immediately. Could you (or anyone else) try to create a new account and see whether you receive the activation email? Would be interesting to know if this happens to everyone who tries to register on the forum right now.

Yes, I will try this out today and see what I come up with.
[14:03:05] <Wylel> > <@craigvb:matrix.org> Just double checked, yes and can ping it with a response

I would do a restart of nginx and then try it again. I would be curious to know if you can see that file being created, and if it stays after the failure of the renewal.
[14:04:02] <Wylel> There are a couple of ways you can keep an eye on it. SSH into the directory and `ls` when you are doing the renewal, or use something like Webmin's file manager to see into that directory.
[14:13:13] <Wylel> > <@toromtomtom:matrix.org> Wylel: Immediately. Could you (or anyone else) try to create a new account and see whether you receive the activation email? Would be interesting to know if this happens to everyone who tries to register on the forum right now.

I am able to recreate this. It does not send the activation email, when logging in again it says to go to the activation email, and when trying to resend you get that error that toromtomtom posted. Clicking OK says it sent another, but it never arrives.
[14:21:23] <Fritjof> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> You will also need to resize the partition in the new SSD, because it will keep its original size from the old SSD

How do I do this?
[14:33:54] <tituspijean> Usually it's with the `resize2fs` command on Debian. I'll let you check resources and documentation on that.
[14:34:45] <tituspijean> Jürgen: Can you check you browser's console for any error? I'm thinking it's an issue with websockets. It might be easier to get this information on a desktop.
[14:35:53] <tituspijean> FYI I've just tried to enable notifications on my own ntfy server and Firefox, and it worked with no issue.
[14:45:39] <Jürgen> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> Jürgen: Can you check you browser's console for any error? I'm thinking it's an issue with websockets. It might be easier to get this information on a desktop.

With the desktop browser, now I get notifications. Weird thing is, that I was not asked to allow notifications, when I pressed register for notifications. Instead, right clicking on the browser icon showed notification not allowed. When manually allowing it worked...

Or gparted if you prefer a GUI
[15:49:15] <ChriChri[m]> > Or gparted if you prefer a GUI

Or just `parted`...
[18:29:46] <Monitor Kernel Access> i can load custom ISOs on my VPS provider
[18:29:46] <Monitor Kernel Access> buyVM gives me a gparted iso i can just one-click-mount to my VPS,though for some god-awful reason Yunohost uses LVM,much to my utter administrative annoyance
[18:29:46] <Monitor Kernel Access> > <@wylelb:matrix.org> I am pretty sure YunoHost does not change anything with partitions?

if you install from the ISO,it does indeed install in LVM
[18:29:52] <Wylel> I am pretty sure YunoHost does not change anything with partitions?
[18:33:36] <Wylel> Oh I was unaware there was a YunoHost ISO
[18:34:10] <djx> has anyone else had this issue with GitLab? I've seen a few other forum posts asking about it, but they get auto-closed after a while due to no response: https://forum.yunohost.org/t/gitlab-fails-to-start-on-new-server/26922
[19:06:22] <craigvb> > <@wylelb:matrix.org> I would do a restart of nginx and then try it again. I would be curious to know if you can see that file being created, and if it stays after the failure of the renewal.

restarted nginx..same result, will try and look at that file this afternoon when I'm back in starting to get more urgent :( other domain certificates also don't renew. was working fine until the last updates
[19:12:53] <Monitor Kernel Access> > <@wylelb:matrix.org> Oh I was unaware there was a YunoHost ISO

yep,go to install guide and select regular PC
[19:12:53] <Fritjof> > <@Salamandar:matrix.org> That’s the way to do it. If you want to be able to stop/continue the process, I suggest to use `ddrescue`.

can I do this directly with dd if I SSH into the server and attach the new disk with a SATA-cable to a USB port on the physical machine of the server? Or do I need a second PC with both drives attached?
[19:14:23] <Wylel> > <@admin:loliimoutolove.com> yep,go to install guide and select regular PC

oh nice, I never have clicked on that haha, I have just always installed it with the script or a script from a provider.
[19:16:04] <Monitor Kernel Access> > <@wylelb:matrix.org> oh nice, I never have clicked on that haha, I have just always installed it with the script or a script from a provider.

same, thats what i normally do,but i saw that i could load ISOs and my immediate thought was "im gonna do it this way because i can"
[19:16:41] <Wylel> > <@admin:loliimoutolove.com> same, thats what i normally do,but i saw that i could load ISOs and my immediate thought was "im gonna do it this way because i can"

haha. I recently switched over to Hetzner and saw I could do that, and still didnt even think to look at another install method.
[19:17:11] <Wylel> I hope the script doesnt go away, because I might sit there for 20 minutes trying to look for it without even reading any text
[19:17:58] <Monitor Kernel Access> I explictly went with BuyVM/frantech Because, well look at my domain name. They host AllTheFallen,so i felt for my mastodon and matrix, they were my best choice
[19:18:29] <Wylel> Fair enough lol
[19:19:10] <Monitor Kernel Access> indeed
[19:55:19] <ChriChri[m]> > <@fritjof:deepfunk.dk> can I do this directly with dd if I SSH into the server and attach the new disk with a SATA-cable to a USB port on the physical machine of the server? Or do I need a second PC with both drives attached?

If you never did this before - whatever way you decide to try, test it in a vm to learn it right.
[19:59:26] <Fritjof> OK - I will do that. Thanks :)
[20:01:49] <ChriChri[m]> My version of doing it:
[20:07:12] <ChriChri[m]> * attach new disk
* partition new disk like the old one, but with bigger partitions where needed
* mount partitions of the new disk somewhere on the running system
* rsync from the running system to the new disk (will leave you with some files broken, because opened by the running system)
* chroot into the filesytem tree of the new disk (after bind-mounting /proc /dev /sys)
* install boot loader (grub)
* (check on another system if the new disk would boot - if not sure)
* rsync another time short before planned outage for migration
* stop all services that could have files open (databases, syslog, check using `lsof`)
* rsync a last time (this time hopefully files that are not opened)
* stop system
* switch disks
* boot
[20:07:43] <ChriChri[m]> But that might not be the easiest way if you do not have to care for offline duration.
[20:16:50] <Monitor Kernel Access> Or if you're using a vps with only one disk
[21:37:19] <laguill13> Hello,
I moved my yunohost server on a new house.
Before I was the ethernet connexion and now with the new internet box I plan to use WiFi.

- 1st question is it possible to connect to the server in serial with a laptop. I would like to avoid connecting a keyboard and a screen to the headless server.

- 2nd question is it difficult to change the internet connection ?

As long as you have SSH enabled, you should be able to connect to it from another machine that way. As far as internet, you will just have to configure it with wireless. Might have to set it up wired at first, connect it to the SSID, then disconnect the Ethernet and it should swap over, just make sure to update the IP if you have a domain connected (a YunoHost domain should swap over with Dynamic DNS).
[21:51:21] <alcapurrias> Hi all, I moved my Yunohost from one VPS to another about 13 hours ago. All of my DNS settings have updated and the diagnosis tool has recognized all of the updates except for the MX records and reverse DNS. When I check them with dnschecker.org and nslookup, everything is fine. Is there anything I can do to get the diagnosis tool to recognize them?
[21:54:32] <Wylel> > <@alcapurrias:matrix.org> Hi all, I moved my Yunohost from one VPS to another about 13 hours ago. Unless the MX had a very long TTL, that should update fairly quickly. As for reverse DNS, I have had those take the full 24 hours before, while everything else updated in an hour. I would just wait it out, if it shows correct on the host side (Linode, Hetzner, etc) it should be fine. Will just have to wait it out, no way to force it unfortunately.
[21:56:56] <alcapurrias> Thanks! I will see if it shows up in the diagnosis tool tomorrow
[21:57:32] <Wylel> I moved mine yesterday, and even though nslookup and dnschecker showed the new records, locally I could not connect on the new IP, and the server was still showing (in diagnostics) that it was not configured with the new IP, so it just takes a while to get around the world.
[21:58:35] <alcapurrias> Thanks again!
