[01:17:42] <Feets> Hi folks. Is there a guide to "upgrade" (so to speak) from one's own Docker instances to YunoHost in a clean manner?
[01:31:42] <Feets> As in, I already run a couple websites off my Raspberry Pi running Debian, but I'd really like to shift to YunoHost
[03:55:35] <david100> hi having trouble getting dns test to pass

[05:46:17] <ynhuser> hi there, someone getting issues with rocketchat?

Hello! Have you checked that?
[07:16:42] <nicofrand> Hi! My nextcloud often tell me the cron did not execute since several days. I am running it manually with CLI but is there a log to check why the cron did not execute properly?
[09:57:04] <Owen> Hi all. I'm getting an error when trying to run migration 26:
```
ERROR - Migration 0026_new_admins_group did not complete, aborting. Error: error during LDAP search operation with: base='cn=admin,dc=yunohost,dc=org', filter='(objectClass=*)', attrs={'userPassword'} and exception {'desc': 'No such object', 'matched': 'dc=yunohost,dc=org'}
```
Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix things?
[09:59:45] <nicofrand> wow, I finally found out why I could not open any picture or PDF in Nextcloud: OnlyOffice was trying to generate thumbnails for those files too (not only .docx etc as configured) 🤦‍♂️
[09:59:52] <orhtej2> > Hi! My nextcloud often tell me the cron did not execute since several days. I am running it manually with CLI but is there a log to check why the cron did not execute properly?

Latest integration actually runs cron jobs via `systemd`, strange. You can always sift through `journalctl`, i believe there are traces left there
[10:00:16] <nicofrand> > Latest integration actually runs cron jobs via `systemd`, strange. You can always sift through `journalctl`, i believe there are traces left there

Thanks, I'll try to read journalctl then
[10:04:12] <nicofrand> Wow jaxom quick on the JWT PR! I'll have to delete mine
[11:46:14] <Arya (Hegel)> Hey, guys. I have a yunohost instance up and running. The website **is reachable from outside** my local network (both via IPv4 & v6) but **none of the required ports are accessible** via IPv6 (including Port 80) frok outside \[all required ports are accessible via IPv4\]. But

my router (Fritz!Box in Germany) says all ports are open. Does that make sense? Isn't the HTTP port 80? Maybe I lack some understanding

here. Any directions will be helpful!

Also, installing synapse leads to a **Bad Request** webpage but Nextcloud works seamlessly!

I found `Jun 26 06:53:01 nicofrand cron[1017]: Error: bad username; while reading /etc/cron.d/nextcloud` which is around the time I upgraded nextcloud so I guess the cron failed during the upgrade and was stuck since then… Seems to run correctly now
[14:18:42] <wargreen> hi here
[14:20:00] <wargreen> can i install yunohost on the top of our frankenrespian used for media center ?
[14:24:27] <tituspijean[m]> wargreen hi, it's better to start from scratch, especially if you have a very custom raspbian 😛
Can you elaborate on it?
[14:24:27] <wargreen> not realy custom... Raspbian + debian testing, not more :)
[14:25:25] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> then how is it a frankenrespbian ? 🤔
[14:25:38] <wargreen> but i want to get some web service for the shared house
[14:26:00] <wargreen> Aleks (he/him/il/lui), for debian nerds it is :)
[14:26:44] <wargreen> more than 2 lines in apt source file and -> franken
[14:28:01] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> ah
[14:28:16] <wargreen> but this pi is already the mediacenter + bluetooth receiver + retrogaming station (coming) , so if i can install yunohost in addition, it is better for me
[14:28:26] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> if you think this is a frankendebian ... wait until you see that state of the system after installing YunoHost 😜
[14:29:10] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> well so it *is* custom and not just Raspian + Debian testing ...?
[15:14:25] <wargreen> tituspijean, Aleks (he/him/il/lui) so is it better to install my services by my own or try to install yunohost at side of my mediacenter conf ?
[15:18:55] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> "better" is an undefined metric ;P
[15:33:07] <wargreen> hum... if we say : unsigned int better ?
[15:34:17] <wargreen> realy, i don't know what i can do. is it possible to install yunohost next to the current system ?
[15:43:25] <tituspijean[m]> wargreen It *really* depends on what these do on the system. Maybe some packages conflict.
Notably also, YunoHost install and take over the NGINX configuration. You will need to use a Redirect app to reverse proxy existing apps.
is your retrogaming station headless? We discourage installing a GUI on a YunoHost server.
[15:45:53] <Nicotinegumaddic> drive/s.
[15:45:54] <Nicotinegumaddic> Hello.  I would just like to say that the current Yunohost iso has a chronic no-post issue.  I've tried multiple machines.  Multiple usb sticks.  multiple iso's (32 and 64bit).  The only way I've got it to actually show itself, is through Ventoy, at which point it eventually states that it cannot automatically (nor manually) partition the
[15:48:12] <Nicotinegumaddic> is there going to be bug-fixed iso made available anytime soon?
[15:48:52] <Nicotinegumaddic> Are there any known issues for the current iso, using Balenetcher?
[15:56:42] <tituspijean[m]> what is a "no-post issue"?
[15:57:26] <orhtej2> > Hello.

RaspberryPI?
[15:57:50] <orhtej2> More likely hardware issue with card
[16:07:03] <t_otor> > RaspberryPI?

Serveur dédiée direct (mon client)
[16:08:40] <Nicotinegumaddic> "no-post" meaning it won't show up as a meaningful boot device
[16:08:56] <Nicotinegumaddic> the iso will only boot via ventoy
[16:17:44] <tituspijean[m]> ok then, download and install standard Debian 11 ISO, then follow the "remote server" instructions from the documentation
[16:42:15] <wargreen> tituspijean, nup, with head. I also have a kodi on this system
[16:50:02] <tituspijean[m]> Then I would not advise you to install YunoHost alongside your services, sorry 😕
[16:50:03] <wargreen> tituspijean, ok, i prefer this kind a advices that a futur WTFaas on the pi :)
[16:50:09] <wargreen> so /me will learn docker
[16:58:33] <wargreen> i need to go, thank you for the advices !
[17:09:19] <basti88> hello everyone, i would like to install yunohost on a vserver but i am too stupid... can someone give me a hint which linux operating system and which yunohost iso i should use?
[17:16:01] <orhtej2> > <@basti88:matrix.org> hello everyone, i would like to install yunohost on a vserver but i am too stupid... can someone give me a hint which linux operating system and which yunohost iso i should use?

It requires Debian 11, either grab YNH ISO right for your arch or get clean Debian and use installation script
[17:20:54] <basti88> > It requires Debian 11, either grab YNH ISO right for your arch or get clean Debian and use installation script

Unlikely that you have to install the base system yourself, create instance with Debian 11 preinstalled
[17:29:02] <basti88> > Unlikely that you have to install the base system yourself, create instance with Debian 11 preinstalled

i have already tried this, yunohost also starts but i always get the error message that "apt" cannot be installed and that the mirror server (several attempts) cannot be reached... what am i doing wrong?
[17:42:16] <tituspijean[m]> You are not sharing the full errors :)
[17:42:16] <tituspijean[m]> and what triggers them... a command?

[17:46:41] <basti88> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> You are not sharing the full errors :)

this is the first problem after new debian 11 install
[17:47:07] <tituspijean[m]> Try a `apt update` first

all packs are uptodate
[17:51:13] <tituspijean[m]> Great, try again installing curl

[17:52:36] <eeceipho> specifically
> I host both private and public facing services. I have a small vps at hetzner, which directs all traffic on ports 80 and 443 through a wireguard tunnel to my server at home.
[17:52:43] <basti88> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> Great, try again installing curl

next problem
[17:59:10] <eeceipho> I have ynhst wireguard server installed on vps, which has a domain (tst.com) setup and working.
I have ynhst wireguard client installed on home yunohost machine. It is connected to vps. it has tst.local domains working, but I cant do local port forwarding (shitty isp).
I want to be able to go to home.tst.com and have it connect to apps running on my home machine.
[18:00:15] <eeceipho> in the past I tried to use redirect ap but it never worked (I'm trying again to get more specifics)
[18:19:34] <tituspijean[m]> > <@basti88:matrix.org> next problem

Still waiting on that next problem :)
[18:19:34] <eeceipho> I'm running into an issue where turning on the vpn client on my home server kills its ability to ping google or any other pub domain (which is new and frustrating) so trying to fix that first.
[18:21:09] <tituspijean[m]> > <@eeceipho:matrix.org> in the past I tried to use redirect ap but it never worked (I'm trying again to get more specifics)

In reply to @eeceipho:matrix.org
in the past I tried to use redirect ap but it never worked (I'm trying again to get more specifics)

Please do. If you have services both at home and on the VPS, then reverse proxy is somewhat the only solution.
[18:21:10] <tituspijean[m]> Have you enabled ip forwarding on the server? I think wireguard server automatically enables it though
[18:21:10] <eeceipho> theres like a 50 percent chance its just my isp fucking with me tho since it was working fine yesterday
[18:21:43] <eeceipho> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> Have you enabled ip forwarding on the server? I think wireguard server automatically enables it though

Maybe? not sure what that is.
[18:26:48] <eeceipho> well I'll try rebooting it and see if that fixes the issue.
but I found some notes from when I last tried this, the issue was
"I cant figure out how to configure the laptop so that it knows to install xyz application under the domain managed by the vps"
[18:27:43] <eeceipho> which does not make a whole lot of sense tbh.... it sounds like I figure out how to forward the traffic? gah I hate it when I take shitty notes. past me sucks.
[18:29:59] <tituspijean[m]> > <@eeceipho:matrix.org> Maybe? not sure what that is.

If you have a `/etc/sysctl.d/wireguard.conf` file then it's all good
[18:34:04] <eeceipho> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> If you have a `/etc/sysctl.d/wireguard.conf` file then it's all good

yeah I can cat that file on both machines. net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1
[18:34:50] <eeceipho> its there too just did not copy paste
[18:34:50] <tituspijean[m]> No IPv6?
[18:37:53] <basti88> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> Still waiting on that next problem :)

i sent picture
[18:38:07] <basti88> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/knRJmnzwzhKwNXdLsnJEsEGI
[18:40:54] <eeceipho> hm. using a mullvad server with client app works ok. so issue is with remote vps.
could all the weird ssh commands I tried last night have borked something?
[18:40:54] <tituspijean[m]> Thanks, the first time the image wasn't loaded. I dont know... have you followed the instructions ?
[18:41:37] <eeceipho> https://github.com/YunoHost/issues/issues/2191
[18:42:37] <basti88> > <@titus:pijean.ovh> Thanks, the first time the image wasn't loaded. I dont know... have you followed the instructions ?

yes, step by step… i think i load a full debian 11 iso and install manual at the server, because provider tell me that it is an minimal installation of debian11… do have an idea, where i can find the right debian image?
[18:47:36] <fch> When metronome 4.0.3?
[18:57:40] <tituspijean[m]> > <@eeceipho:matrix.org> https://github.com/YunoHost/issues/issues/2191

Maybe! But the command seems to be changing the network only when it's running though...
[18:57:41] <tituspijean[m]> Though the screenshot looks cut on the sides. The command does not makes sense with what I see
[18:57:41] <tituspijean[m]> > <@basti88:matrix.org> yes, step by step… i think i load a full debian 11 iso and install manual at the server, because provider tell me that it is an minimal installation of debian11… do have an idea, where i can find the right debian image?

No but... at the bottom of your screenshot it specifically tells your to remove bind9.
[18:57:42] <tituspijean[m]> `sudo apt remove bind9 --purge --autoremove`
[18:57:42] <eeceipho> ok, I just tried using a diff vps and same issue. Also tried using an android tablet and the android tablet was able to connect to google. So now pretty sure issue is with local machine.
[18:59:07] <eeceipho> er, the wireguard vpn is on the vps is working, since I can use it with my tablet.
but the local yunohost server is unable to ping any external ip / domain when it connects to the vps with the wireguard client app. so I figure something must be up with the local yunohost machine. altho I'm not sure what. it was working yesterday so idk.
[19:00:09] <eeceipho> any tips? Im a networking noob so all I know how to really do is `nmcli con up/down` and `ping google.com`
[19:02:11] <eeceipho> actually i should probably check that the package is up to date
[19:03:39] <tituspijean[m]> Can you ping your vps from the home server? Do you use the WireGuard Client app ?
Can you share what your wg0.conf file looks like?
[19:03:39] <eeceipho> I can ping the vps from my home server when the wireguard client service is turned off
[19:04:21] <eeceipho> let me check. I know I cant ssh into the vps when its turned on
[19:04:21] <tituspijean[m]> Not when it's on?
[19:05:59] <eeceipho> ah, wait. is there a 1 client limit for the wireguard vpn gui thing?
[19:06:22] <eeceipho> just swapped to the first one I made with the gui and it started working.
[19:07:18] <eeceipho> a question for another day. its working now. puzzle over it later.
lemmy try the redirection app.
[19:09:51] <tituspijean[m]> There is no limit on the number of clients, but maybe there's a limit on how many devices can use the same wg0.conf file.
[19:09:51] <tituspijean[m]> Regarding the Redirect app, use it in proxy mode. There is a bug in the current webadmin where the options are not listed (it's a textbox). Try using "public_proxy" (I think)
[19:10:05] <eeceipho> yeah I was going to ask about that.
[19:12:36] <eeceipho> oh not the ip of the wireguard?
[19:12:36] <tituspijean[m]> It's really not user/admin friendly... hence the issue from lj f you discovered yesterday. We need to make this smoother
[19:12:43] <eeceipho> 10.10.10.0 or whatever?
[19:15:19] <tituspijean[m]> Yeah sorry, my markdown got scrambled. 10.0.0.0 would be the vps. Use the IP of the homeserver
[19:15:19] <tituspijean[m]> Then... it's a bit hacky.
First disable HTTPS redirection from the home server global settings.
Then it depends on the app. If it's an app serving everything on an internal port like 8096, then you need to input "http://VPN.IP.OF.HOME
:8096"
[19:15:19] <tituspijean[m]> Basically you tell the redirect app "go fetch the page through the vpn"
[19:15:20] <tituspijean[m]> You would need to open the firewall port for 8096 too.
[19:15:21] <eeceipho> wait, do you mean the ip allocation from the wireguard UI or my actual home IP address?
[19:15:21] <tituspijean[m]> Damn we really need to help automate that.
[19:16:15] <eeceipho> cuz that changes very often.
[19:16:49] <tituspijean[m]> The WireGuard's IP obviously :)
[19:18:06] <eeceipho> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/IomxnYBYckDdECRWjiUUfyHR
[19:18:29] <eeceipho> so 10.10.10.1 ?
[19:19:37] <tituspijean[m]> Yup!
[19:20:06] <eeceipho> although maintaining documentation can sometimes be more of a pain then building / maintaining an automation process
[19:21:30] <eeceipho> Honestly just having a page like the one you folks have for the tor hidden services would suffice for me https://yunohost.org/oc/torhiddenservice
[19:25:24] <tituspijean[m]> > <@eeceipho:matrix.org> although maintaining documentation can sometimes be more of a pain then building / maintaining an automation process

I'd guess it's the first step of automating it. Draw up the plan, make sure it works for everyone, then automate. :)
[19:25:24] <eeceipho> hm does it matter if I use `ping.tst.com/redir` vs `ping.tst.com` ?
[19:26:09] <eeceipho> getting 504 Gateway Time-outs with ping.txt.com/redir
[19:28:26] <eeceipho> oh I just used port 8096 when I should have just used 80 or something (i think)
[19:37:29] <tituspijean[m]> It really depends on what you want to redirect. I *think* you cannot have a all-in-one redirect for all apps. (Not sure though)
[19:37:29] <eeceipho> for now I'm just trying to setup sftp so I can use it as external storage for nextcloud.
[19:37:29] <eeceipho> but also would like audiobookshelf and grocy availible for family
[19:39:50] <eeceipho> yeah, when I try to go to the redirect site it just takes me to the yunohost admin
[19:40:06] <eeceipho> (for the vps not for the local machine)
[19:43:32] <eeceipho> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/mTWaKnJaQIxEFVlWLeBKqiJs
[19:43:32] <eeceipho> which is different the 504 Gateway Time-out i guess.
ok trying again. This should be right tho?
[19:44:42] <eeceipho> hm do I need to disable auto-https redirect on the vps as well?
[19:46:41] <eeceipho> ok history says command is `yunohost settings set security.nginx.redirect_to_https -v False` so I'll try that on the vps...
[19:48:14] <eeceipho> aaaan its still taking me to the admin login page
[19:53:22] <eeceipho> yeah I dont know what to do here. I've got the vps and the homeserver connected. I can see that running `curl ifconfig.me` from terminal on home machine returns ip address of VPS.
I've got the redirect app set to 10.10.10.1:80, so it should be forwrding on port 80 trafic to local machine. but instead its redirecting to the admin page.
[19:56:38] <eeceipho> ok let me try using port 443 I guess.
[19:58:04] <eeceipho> glad its so early in month I've only ate up 30% of bandwidth lol
[19:59:25] <tituspijean[m]> Oh damn, where are you to be subject to bandwidth limitations? :o
[19:59:26] <eeceipho> the sticks
[20:02:44] <eeceipho> I do want to reverse proxy apps, but want to do sftp more
[20:02:44] <tituspijean[m]> Basically, open let's say port 2222 and bridge it to 10.0.0.1:22
[20:02:44] <tituspijean[m]> Actually, I assumed you wanted to reverse proxy apps. If you need SFTP only, then an adaptation of the ssh command from yesterday should be fine
[20:03:30] <eeceipho> and if you mean those ssh commands from the github repo, it relies on packages I cant install / find
[20:07:27] <tituspijean[m]> Oh I see. In your case, a simple `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22` would be enough
[20:07:28] <tituspijean[m]> (I think it's included in another package now, I'll let you look into it, though it's not necessary)
[20:07:28] <tituspijean[m]> No brctl needed
[20:09:13] <tituspijean[m]> There no mention of the WireGuard address there.
[20:09:13] <tituspijean[m]> Hum wait, I've just brainfarted I think
[20:09:14] <eeceipho> it would be `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22 wireguard` then right?
[20:10:50] <eeceipho> um, but running `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22` does nothing
[20:10:50] <tituspijean[m]> Ah yeah it's to be run on the local server. Make sure to open port 2222 on the vps though ;)
[20:10:50] <tituspijean[m]> > <@eeceipho:matrix.org> it would be `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22 wireguard` then right?

Nope
[20:11:06] <eeceipho> ah yeha
[20:11:47] <eeceipho> oh I have .ssh/config set so `ssh wireguard` gets me right into vps
[20:11:47] <tituspijean[m]> Sorry, replace
wireguard with 10.10.10.0
[20:15:08] <tituspijean[m]> Witchcraft!
[20:16:36] <eeceipho> so I ran `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22 wireguard` from home comp that worked (it connected me to vps)
but when I try to ssh into it using `ssh homecompuser@vpsdomain.com -p 2222` it does not work
[20:18:49] <eeceipho> there are so many things that could be wrong. not sure if I'm supposed to run `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22 10.10.10.1` from the vps?
[20:20:09] <eeceipho> or if there is a problem with the `ssh homecompuser@vpsdomain.com -p 2222` command (am i supposed to use the user from the local machine or from the vps, domain from local machine or domain from vps?)
[20:23:23] <eeceipho> ohey I can still connect via onion tohugh.
[20:23:42] <eeceipho> (which is useless 90 percent of the time)
[20:27:52] <eeceipho> Because I cant use it for sftp on nextcloud and even if I could it would be way to slow to be useful.
[20:34:24] <eeceipho> Do I need to shut down the wireguard vpn for the ssh forwarding to work?
[20:37:03] <eeceipho> Ah just noticed running `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22 wireguard` gives me:
`Warning: remote port forwarding failed for listen port 2222`
[20:45:18] <eeceipho> ok so I'm not seeing that warning anymore
[20:45:52] <eeceipho> but I'm still not able to connect. just says `ssh: connect to host vps.com port 2222: Connection refused`
[20:46:05] <eeceipho> most annoying is that nothing shows up in ssh logs.
[20:54:38] <eeceipho> ok so when I run `nmap -p 2222 vps.com` I get
`2222/tcp closed EtherNetIP-1`
[20:54:51] <eeceipho> but in firewall settings its open
[20:55:02] <eeceipho> am confused
[21:01:22] <eeceipho> Gah. this is supposed to be *simpler* then the wireguard thign
[21:08:46] <eeceipho> lol so tried running `nmap -p 2223 vps.com` as a lark, said port filtered. so I went to firewall settings and set port 2223 to open. then ran again, now its closed.
[21:08:56] <eeceipho> trying to open the port closed it.
[21:11:38] <eeceipho> ok, so I tried also `ssh -R 0.0.0.0:22:localhost:22 wendlandt`\
[21:12:04] <eeceipho> fuck this
[21:14:02] <eeceipho> its been 4 hours and 2 days straight of googline and trouble shooting
[21:14:12] <eeceipho> 3 months of off and on tinkering
[21:14:15] <eeceipho> still cant get it working
[21:14:59] <eeceipho> just going to wait till somone who knows what they are doing writes up a step by step guide that actually works
