[01:39:57] <Takashi> > <@chatpitaine:cirkau.art> Yunohost is not yet compatible with debian 12 bookworm, so install the lastest of debian 11.

ok so installing debian 11 still leaves me without a boot partition however installing 12 does give me one and works but I can't use the yuno host install script on 12
[03:06:51] <Takashi> Thus I cannot boot into the os after installation
[03:33:33] <Tag> How did you install Debian 11?
[03:37:41] <dabe> > <@thattakashi:matrix.org> ok so installing debian 11 still leaves me without a boot partition however installing 12 does give me one and works but I can't use the yuno host install script on 12

I just installed debian 11 fresh last week and it booted fine. Did you use the guided full disk setup?
[03:42:09] <Takashi> Yeah
[03:53:19] <Takashi> it even asked if I wanted to install grub but seemingly it didn't
[04:32:28] <lautre> > <fch> I installed transmission, the bit-torrent app, add some files but no peer and no download, is it necessary to open some port on router for it?

Yes, should be to accelerate, but should works without too.
[04:36:05] <lautre> There is two way for grub, but still strange.
Try to install Debian 11 in a virtual machine to test.
Do you use netinst method? It's the one I prefer.
[04:37:25] <Takashi> yeah I did
[04:38:54] <Takashi> > <@lautre:matrix.org> There is two way for grub, but still strange.
> Try to install Debian 11 in a virtual machine to test.
> Do you use netinst method? It's the one I prefer.

I installed debian 11.7 specifically
[04:51:06] <fch> > > <fch> I installed transmission, the bit-torrent app, add some files but no peer and no download, is it necessary to open some port on router for it?

I see, but it's not working... https://paste.yunohost.org/guqoyutogu
[04:58:11] <lautre> I will test this afternoon, can't earlier
[04:59:17] <lautre> May be there is something wrong. Because Transmission should run without ports opened in the server
[04:59:52] <lautre> In the log, it can't run
[05:01:15] <lautre> The lines 5 and 6 describe the problems
[05:01:22] <Takashi> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/KvQXVSAnsvXXYkKExpOAnvtA
[05:01:32] <Takashi> so that worked in a vm
[05:01:58] <fch> > May be there is something wrong. Because Transmission should run without ports opened in the server
yes, like on my pc..strange
[05:29:47] <Takashi> > <@lautre:matrix.org> There is two way for grub, but still strange.

got it working! thanks so much for your help!

[05:37:36] <lautre> I Knut talk like drunk people
[07:56:11] <casper> Would it be a bad idea to run all these on my VPS (Debian Bullseye with Yunohost)? It has 1 GB RAM but I can add more RAM if needed:

SimpleX Chat, Grav or Hugo or Writefreely, Roundcube, Nextcloud or Seafile (or a lighter file backup server), Commento, Cryptpad, Discourse, Etherpad, Prosody, Searx, SPFtoolbox, squid3, and Vaultwarden
[08:07:57] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> eeeeh 1GB ram is gonna be quite short
[08:13:22] <Jonas> Good morning, all! I tried to install Akkoma this morning (CET) but... well #n00b over here so... :) https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/tutipafegu
[08:38:00] <Jonas> I think it might be someting with the network, but i'm stuck. Anyone seen something like this?
[09:22:47] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> Jonas: it looks like the app doesn't support your server architecture (arm64)
[09:25:04] <Jonas> Aleks (he/him/il/lui): Oh!
[09:25:19] <casper> > eeeeh 1GB ram is gonna be quite short
That's okay. I won't be installing all these at one go. But will also add more RAM gradually. My question is, is it okay to have all these services running on rhe same server?
[09:25:55] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> > <casper> > eeeeh 1GB ram is gonna be quite short
> That's okay. I won't be installing all these at one go. But will also add more RAM gradually. My question is, is it okay to have all these services running on rhe same server?

it can work yes, we regularly see people with a dozen of apps
[09:26:46] <casper> Will 4-6 GB be sufficient RAM for all these services (very few users, only a handful of friends)?
[09:27:18] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> yes that sounds like a reasonable amount of RAM
[09:27:43] <casper> Great. Thanks, Aleks
[09:28:00] <rodinux> Hello how I have a good configuration of the hostname and /etc/hosts in yunohost ? Does the hostname must be the FQDN or can be different (the name of the machine) ? What is the importance of a authoritative domain name, the default domain ?
[09:39:41] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> rodinux: what problem are you trying to solve exactly ...
[09:44:42] <rodinux> > <@Alekswag:matrix.org> rodinux: what problem are you trying to solve exactly ...

We want to choose a correct hotsname, the hostname is now the FQDN `domain.tld` but it can be also just `domain` as the name of the machine ?
[09:45:50] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> this sound like a correct configuration, what is not working ? Why are you wondering about hostnames suddently..
[09:48:26] <rodinux> Is it a problem if we change the name of the hostname in a yunohost, if we wonder have a name of machine in hostname ?
[09:52:27] <rodinux> We can't use `resolvectl` because the system want use `systemd-resolved`
[09:52:39] <lapineige> > <@Alekswag:matrix.org> eeeeh 1GB ram is gonna be quite short

RAM compression (using zram) could be a workaround, at a slight CPU load cost.
Installations (with automated compiling) of some programs might be an issue
[14:46:37] <amu> Hello. I cannot renew the certificate of my domain
[14:46:39] <amu> https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/coseyokosi
[14:46:47] <amu> How should I troubleshoot?
[15:20:03] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> hmf this `muc.domain` thing is stupidly annoying
[15:20:44] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> amu: i'd say if you ain't using XMPP, disable XMPP for that domain in Domains > the.domain.tld > Features > uncheck XMPP
[15:59:01] <amu> Thank you Aleks!
[16:06:45] <Lasse Gismo> Hi there, back again with the main domain change thing on my homeserver.
[16:10:20] <Lasse Gismo> Know how to "yunohost domain main-domain -n NEW_MAIN_DOMAIN" but got an error "Domain XYZ unkown" despite nslookup can resolve the adresses. Any Idea?
[16:19:37] <amu> aleks: disabling XMPP didn't help...
[16:20:15] <amu> I see my subdomains have a valid Let's Encrypt certificate. The problem seems to be only with the domain.
[16:37:57] <Lasse Gismo> Do I have to configure something on the admin page under domains B4?
[16:47:07] <Lasse Gismo> Do I need to add the new domain first in the domain section as main domain to prevent the error. Found the following in the help section "If you want to remove "MY_MAIN_DOMAIN", you will have to select another domain first and set it as the main one."
[17:01:03] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> yes you have to add the domain before defining it as the main domain ...
[17:01:43] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> > <amu> aleks: disabling XMPP didn't help...

well then can you share the new log, because it shouldn't be the same error message ..
[17:03:26] <Lasse Gismo> > <@Alekswag:matrix.org> yes you have to add the domain before defining it as the main domain ...

OK - thanks, but what is the "yunohost domain main-domain -n " than for?
[17:03:44] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> it's to define the main domain ...
[17:04:07] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> `yunohost domain add your.newdomain.tld` ... `yunohost domain main-domain -n your.newdomain.tld`
[17:04:27] <Lasse Gismo> that has to be configured in the domain section before?!
[17:05:25] <Lasse Gismo> ok, that I will follow the command line path further
[17:06:11] <amu> Aleks: You are right, it isn't.
[17:06:37] <amu> Aleks: Sorry, I should have said it wasn't. Because now I have tried to get the logs and it worked!!!
[17:06:40] <amu> : )
[17:07:09] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> 😬
[17:14:03] <Lasse Gismo> seems working :-)
[17:39:29] <Lasse Gismo> ok - all done + new letsencrypt cert installed - it's such a great environment here. By and have a nice evening Aleks
[18:29:01] <fch> > > > <fch> I installed transmission, the bit-torrent app, add some files but no peer and no download, is it necessary to open some port on router for it?
> >

anyone can test and help please? I want to feed the world with some torrents
[18:29:41] <fch> btw if I set "require encryption" it's pretty safe, right?
[20:18:51] <localandnomadic> hi everyone. I'm trying to fumble my way through an installation on old computer - the guided install hasn't been working, unfortunately, but I'm holding out hope that the advanced approach will work out for me
[20:19:16] <localandnomadic> I am mostly wondering right now if installing GRUB to an external drive is a decent idea? I've been having problems booting up
[22:11:52] <ynhuser> can't get libreerp to install here is my paste tried pip install libsass which worked earlier not any more.  https://paste.yunohost.org/raw/suzapuyopi
[22:12:44] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> ogod
[22:12:48] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> please don't install libreerp
[22:13:24] <ynhuser> I like it odoo and all.
[22:13:29] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> ```

```
[22:13:37] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> a segfault in libsass lib, wtf ?
[22:13:49] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> you like Odoo ? wtf mate
[22:13:53] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> i mean
[22:14:06] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> it's kind of the less-worse ERP
[22:14:26] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> but using the verb "like" with Odoo ? Eeeeeh
[22:16:50] <ynhuser> it like the playschool fruit stand with the cash register and all.
[22:46:31] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> 😅
[22:48:33] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> https://media.tenor.com/yO_4I0XkBiwAAAAd/jcrealno-jc-really-no.gif
[23:53:11] <Dustin Widmann> Howdy! Quick question, how does one make changes to the /etc/ssowat/conf.json file permanent (e.g., to set auth_header and use_remote_user_var_in_nginx_conf false for some applications)?
[23:54:49] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> you don't, you ain't suppose to manually edit those, if the generated values are causing issues, this should be reported to the corresponding apps
[23:58:51] <Dustin Widmann> Really? That's irritating... nginx auth_basic doesn't work unless I turn those off.
