[02:53:39] <nachoLIBRE> When tunohost gives me an xmpp is that my own server if so how can I utilize it and add users
[13:38:45] <alwi> Hi,
after a long while I need your help. I made a new installation of yunohost. During the postinstall I made a mistake. I started post install with my domain and admin, but forget to connect to the WEB. That was it.
During some attempts I received the error 500, among other things.
With 'yunohost tools postinstall' came the message
"The operation 'Perform post-installation of the YunoHost server could not be completed. Please share the full log of this operation using the command 'yunohost log share 20230217-131222-tools\_postinstall-XXX.goip.de' to get help."
Which log file is required?
Formatting the SSD before the last attempt to install didn't help.

The above log file is in which folder?
Formatting the SSD before the last attempt to install didn't help.
[13:41:15] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> `cd /var/log/yunohost/categories/operations`, then `ls -thor`
[13:52:31] <alwi> > <@Alekswag:matrix.org> `cd /var/log/yunohost/categories/operations`, then `ls -thor`

Should I send all log files? To where? What happens to private data contained in it?
[13:53:51] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> but at least sharing the end of the postinstall log should be okay ... or it may just contain the domain name idk
[13:54:08] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> you should see an entry like `yunohost_tools_postinstall-20230217-xxxxxxx.log`
[13:54:55] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> just the one about postinstall ... annnnnnd yeah usually YunoHost redact private stuff, but that's only when using `yunohost log share` (or show --share ? I never remember) but that probably wont work while Yunohost is not postinstalled..
[13:54:59] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> you can look at the end of the log with `tail -n 50 the_file_name.log`
[13:56:08] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> and share them with paste.yunohost.org/
[14:11:25] <LPS_trashserver> > When tunohost gives me an xmpp is that my own server if so how can I utilize it and add users
yes, but I don't believe you can enable registration as with a normal xmpp server. You can add users via the Web Panel at yourdomain/sso - add users - which will give them an account to your services. If you want to limit them to only xmpp, then you'll need to adjust their indiviual app access via the Users/Groups and Permissions/Individual User Permissions
[14:13:10] <LPS_trashserver> nachoLIBRE, in response to your question: yes, but I don't believe you can enable registration as with a normal xmpp server. If you want to limit them to only xmpp, then you'll need to adjust their indiviual app access via the Users/Groups and Permissions/Individual User Permissions
[14:14:42] <LPS_trashserver> nachoLIBRE, just a note be warned that Voice and video calling is a Pain in the Ass if you're running it from home, however messaging works fine. This isn't an issue if it's running on a VPS
[14:28:00] <alwi> > <@Alekswag:matrix.org> just the one about postinstall ... annnnnnd yeah usually YunoHost redact private stuff, but that's only when using `yunohost log share` (or show --share ? I never remember) but that probably wont work while Yunohost is not postinstalled..

Aleks (he/him/il/lui): I pasted it.
[14:30:51] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> wokay but then you need to share the link it creates 😅
[14:35:25] <alwi> Did it first time; where could I create the link?
[14:36:28] <alwi> https://paste.yunohost.org/about.md??
[14:55:44] <alwi> > <@alwi:matrix.org> Aleks (he/him/il/lui): I pasted it.

Did the file arrive? Can I possibly reinstall?
[14:56:33] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> > <@alwi:matrix.org> https://paste.yunohost.org/about.md??

uuuh, this link is just somehow a description what Hastebin does ...
[14:57:45] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> 1. Display the log in your terminal
2. Open https://paste.yunohost.org/ in your browser
3. Copypaste the content of the log in the Paste page in your browsr
4. Click the 'Save' button in the Paste interface
5. The URL in your browser should now be different
6. Copy-paste that URL in the chat
[14:58:28] <alwi> https://paste.yunohost.org/unikokuziq.sql
[15:00:35] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> `attribute 'virtualdomain' with value 'mytld.de' is not unique`
[15:00:56] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> well okay it sounds like you tried to postinstall a first time, then retried, and now it complains that the domain already exist, but that doesn't explain why it failed the first time
[15:01:23] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> in `ls -thor /var/log/yunohost/categories/operations`, are you seeing your very first postinstall attempt ?
[15:09:51] <alwi> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/kVwSoKIBMLlWsfZBJvaODhlY
[15:12:18] <alwi> https://aria.im/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/SaUyqdVRYtMVyXggfDtjqraa
[15:13:28] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> so the first one seems to be the one at 13:12
[15:13:39] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> let's share the log of this one and check what happened ...
[15:23:39] <alwi> all my timestmaps are gmt+1
[15:24:11] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> yes, 14:12, whatever..
[15:24:49] <alwi> earlier than 14:12 do not exist
[15:25:21] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> dude i mean the file starting with `20230217-131222-tools_postinstall` ...
[15:32:03] <alwi> https://paste.yunohost.org/fopujeyaqa.sql
[15:32:43] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> ah yes i see, you tried using `admin` as the first user id ...
[15:32:52] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> :|
[15:42:50] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> alwi: so yeah, ufnfortunately `admin` can't be used as an username, you gotta pick another one ... (And unfortunantely that fucked up the postinstall process so you have to start from scratch ... or if you need to there may be a trick to reset the LDAP db somehow ... Anyway I pushed a fix in the core such that it doesn't fail miserably anymore because of this error)
[15:47:55] <alwi> So can I / should I reinstall from the stick?
[15:55:50] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> yes
[15:56:15] <alwi> Thanks!!
[15:56:28] <Aleks (he/him/il/lui)> but pick a different first user name than admin
[15:57:00] <alwi> of course now
[17:11:57] <IoMe> What is the group of the admin user?
[17:11:57] <IoMe> Good evening (for me)
[17:11:58] <IoMe> I lost some permissions some days ago due to some misteka I made
[17:15:42] <IoMe> Beautiful, misteka 🙂
[18:55:08] <Elzen> Currently trying to install the last iso on a new machine. During the installation, I chose the “manual” partitioning, and then it showed me a screen complaining about no root partition being selected, without any way to come back (the “continue” button just go back to the same screen).
[18:55:09] <Elzen> Same problem with the text interface. Well, I'll probably manage the partitions later…
[18:55:09] <Elzen> Ooookay, I tried the automatic partitioning, and it failed…
[18:55:09] <Elzen> Nope.
[18:55:09] <Elzen> Does it work with the non-graphical install?
[18:55:23] <tane> (Didn't try bother ??? == didn't bother trying)
[18:55:23] <tane> > <@Elzen:libera.chat> Currently trying to install the last iso on a new machine. During the installation, I chose the “manual” partitioning, and then it showed me a screen complaining about no root partition being selected, without any way to come back (the “continue” button just go back to the same screen).

Yeah, I ran into that yesterday. There is no graphical way out as far as i can tell.
[18:55:23] <tane> But i think you would still be stuck in that loop when you changed back.
[18:55:24] <tane> Didn't try, bother the last iso's gave me problems with no root, no efi partition, refused to partition, etc...I gave up and used debians netinstall (with non-free) to get the system to a usab;e state, removed the user I added in addition to root and then used the netinstall. If you use that path, don't forget to install the ssh server and change /etc/ssh/ssh_config to allow password and root login.
[18:55:24] <tane> Out of interest, is it a lenovo?
[18:55:24] <tane> you could try dropping into the shell and making them manually I suppose (ctrl alt f2).
[18:59:09] <MoiBois> Hi there how do you set the log level to debug for a given service?
[20:35:54] <LPS_trashserver> What is the best way to backup my entire yunohost server including the data? I believe Yunohost backup only includes the applications, is that right?
[20:37:04] <LPS_trashserver> to add to that, is there a way to do incremental backups without creating an entirely new backup every time?
[21:15:07] <matlag> LPS_trashserver I don't know if that's the "best" way, but I use restic (the package). It does incremental backup, and I do backup the whole data. There is an option in Nextcloud to make sure it includes its data.
[21:16:13] <LPS_trashserver> from 'within" nextcloud, like the Admin Settings?matlag,
[21:18:54] <LPS_trashserver> matlag, I have seen https://vorta.borgbase.com/ which is Borg but I have to admit it still seems confusing to include everything
[21:23:03] <matlag> Hmm... can't find it anymore. Looks like it's gone and the setting is only use during upgrade (?)
[21:28:14] <LPS_trashserver> matlag, no worries, thanks for looking ... having a full backup is a really confusing process unfortunately. The best and least efficient way I've found since I have it on a local machine is to simple clone my drive every so often in case of failure
[21:28:57] <LPS_trashserver> matlag, which might seem ridiculous, but it works
[21:33:22] <matlag> It's not ridiculous. I've done that for a loooong time, because it's better than no backup, and "I'll deal with it later" 😉
[21:58:32] <LPS_trashserver> matlag, am I correct that using the command "yunohost backup create" is not backing up my data at the same time?
[21:58:36] <LPS_trashserver> https://upload.trashserver.net/upload/8a850a7ef52e8f29a096654bf1bd037c24c83d81/6ABExnEs0u4ZI9NPTwxHtYZKCKW0kZbgo0qULe4j/9ff5b868-368d-4c5a-b901-5378cb722387.png
[21:59:19] <LPS_trashserver> the "system parts and apps" is the part that is unclear
[22:01:28] <LPS_trashserver> seems like I'll be doing "clones' for now https://yunohost.org/ar/backup/clone_filesystem
[22:01:49] <LPS_trashserver> thx
[22:24:17] <templeos> Hi
[22:24:27] <templeos> https://upload.magicbroccoli.de/3f24a0165eab13a1806a1df4635094f688ab3ce3/OUK7cSWNL8s8fLT5WLrv1LMkQwzx2DoozbLltA5E/zb2rhcMMwAUeEYwL2bvZ8JmLumPR8SyrRbXg6KG1YSroXh7hZ.jpg
[22:40:45] <Ryan> So wait, I'm NOT nocturnal?
[22:40:50] <matlag> Earth rotation is 23h56min. 4min * 193 days (6months) = ~12h. Could "they" have done that on purpose? This is obviously a conspiracy to get a usable date/time system!! And check this: https://libreddit.chtisurel.net/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/6dh1me/oc_graph_of_sunrise_and_sunset_times_as_well_as/ "They" change the sunset and sunrise time so that it matches with earth rotation, revolution and even the tilt!
[22:42:03] <templeos> https://upload.magicbroccoli.de/3f24a0165eab13a1806a1df4635094f688ab3ce3/7qPq9ZEgbZqflnfSVmYcdblv9LbkBYqfVHD1KSEi/0d7620941780bc410b8ec5a4756259d8_500.jpg
[22:44:27] <matlag> You do realize that assuming Earth is not flat, when you take a picture of it, and can't see some of it, it doesn't automatically mean these places are all in the dark, right?
[22:49:21] <matlag> Is there a flat-earth app on Yunohost or is this totally irrelevant to this room?
[23:45:30] <templeos> https://upload.magicbroccoli.de/3f24a0165eab13a1806a1df4635094f688ab3ce3/aRN4OT0oesEBeJ0sHJVRu5ZKWRmHQtbZ4VHJiz2c/zb2rhWuAM4JkFsC5njjhD69Ysd3egHpWJXcSsPDVYx56YygWD.jpg
